Oracle 12c: SQL

Get book for learning SQL period. After reading each chapter you just feel like an expert at writing SQL statements. You will need to supplement this book with one that goes way deeper into good database design theory if you want to properly construct usable databases at an enterprise level.

Great guide to Oracle SQL. Only thing that confused me was that there was no section labeled "triggers", but it's probably because I don't know enough about SQL yet to understand why the section shouldn't exist.

It's a book about databases and how to write SQL statements, it's not going to be a fun read. It seemed like a great reference though, well organized and helpful.

I paid about $35 for this book and that was amazing. The new version was over $100. One of the corners came water damaged but for the price being used I love it

The book contains a lot of great information. I am a fairly experienced SQL developer; however, I don't have a lot of experience with creating and maintaining database tables. My jobs required that I do data retrieval and reporting. So the data base side looks very comprehensive from what I have done thus far. I spent time ferreting out the data scripts and the answer sets. Called Cengage, the publisher. They were polite, but no help. The description of the book on Amazon fails to mention it's a Cengage product, a company which does not support self study. So unless you are a student/instructor, you cannot get access to these tools. This information should be disclosed. I decided to return the book, but then Googled the name of the database used in the book, JustLee Books. I found the script and copied/pasted in the SQL editor. Worked perfectly. No charge. For the answers, I had to purchase a monthly subscription on the associated site. I felt the monthly subscription to be inexpensive enough to merit the cost. Plus, I can cancel anytime. The lack of data and answer key at the purchase price disappointing. The content, however, I felt worth it. The other reasons for the 3 starts, is the lack of discussion on SQL's analytic functions. These were available with 12C.

If your professor assigned this book and will be using the data files, do not get the Kindle edition. It apparently does not come with the data files. I cannot complete my class projects with this book and now I'm stuck with it AND need to buy another version of it.

I really enjoy this book, we are currently taking database course (CPAN 152 Relational DB Design and SQL) and all our materials are being covered from this book. I also like how we have case studies, 20 multiple course question to test your understand). This book is preparing me for (Database Administration) that I am taking next semester. This book self explanatory and easy to follow.

Very good book, easy to read and with many examples and tests. It would deserve five stars, but, book contains no answers to Chapter Review questions! Author say that answers are on Cengage Brain website, but, they are impossibe to find. I am wery disappointed about that, it isn't fair.
