Windowsill Herb Planter Box

Update: it's now 2025. I still have all 3 planters and they're still in perfect condition. They've spent the last two+ years outside in the elements and are still immaculate. No signs of cracking or even sun damage. I just swapped out my usual herbs for some cat grass and you can see the condition of the planters since my original review. Original review: Quality, price, functionality, convenience and aesthetic are all 5-stars. It's been a month since I bought this planter and my herbs are thriving with little to no fuss from me except to occasionally refill the water reservoir. These planters are adorable and works exactly as advertised. The tank takes about 32 oz of water and I bought a 6qt bag of potting soil and after filling all 3 baskets, I had about half bag left. The wicking strips that go into the bottom to self-water can be tricky to get into place, so be sure you follow the directions, and that you lift 1-2" of the strip loop and pack some dirt under it to ensure it's in it's proper place before you fill the rest of the container with soil. The first night, the soil will take in about half the water to hydrate the soil, so that's a good indicator that you got the self watering part right.

These are so perfect!!! They are made of a very sturdy plastic and they are easy to put together. I appreciate that it came in minimal packaging to reduce waste. The colors are cute and help me keep track of which herbs I put into each. So far everything is growing very healthy and the plants are only taking the water they need. Checking the water level is extremely easy with the convenient window on each planter. I keep these planters on a shelf in my house and they have been working great with a grow light. So far I love these and would definitely get more if I want to grow my indoor garden!

I think this is my first Amazon review. I love the planters! Well made and constructed. Sleek and clean looking. I'll be getting another set once they're back in stock. They lose a star for lack of instructions on installing the self watering strips. I installed them leaving a loop into the soil and about 2 inches into the water. I hope that's right.

Once I figured out how the strips went in the pots , I found these to be a creative way to keep plants watered. They assembled easily & held more than I initially expected . Suited my narrow window space above the sink. The colors are bright & cheerful. The low price sealed the deal for me.

The product is perfect. It arrived quickly. It is a solid planter and deep enough for most plants ( not trees). Love the color combinations, too. Description talks about strings, but they are really cotton tapes—so much better. I left another feedback (1*) because no browser would go to your site because it’s security has lapsed.

I purchased two sets of these to line the inside of two outdoor flower boxes that were installed by the previous owners of our home. The boxes were custom built and are an irregular size - about 5” deep and 33 inches wide with no drainage and it was almost impossible to find anything that fit in them. Window flower boxes are also known to either dry out or become too water logged with excessive rain. I also had the challenge of one window box receiving more filtered sun than the other. Using these as inserts has allowed me to more easily monitor the amount of water in the soil and also switch them out intermittently when the more shaded box isn’t receiving enough sun. So far, I’ve been able to keep everything alive and going strong and the boxes seem sturdy enough to withstand the elements. The small water reservoir at the bottom also allows me to go a couple of days in, even extreme heat/dryness without having to water.

Could be sturdier, but nice boxes. I found the self watering feature to be hit or miss — some times my soil was too wet, other times it was too dry.

After reading the reviews on this product i know I wanted to buy it. I read almost all the reviews from buyers saying that they did not know how to place the strips. One said she placed it in the soil, one said it is supposed to hang on a window sill, one said it did not come with instructions and I am wondering am I the only one who saw the photos of the item and that it really needed no instructions? The photo clearly shows that the strips go into the two holes in the bottom of the container and hangs into the water. Anyway the containers were the perfect size for my window sill (and no it is not supposed to hang by the strips). Deep enough to allow for root depth and just wide enough for small herbs or plants. Overall I am satisfied with my purchase
