Perfect for 4 years old. Some pages are difficult for beginners

Book is great! Scissors not so much.
So, the book is great. Lots of fun things to cut out. Great colors. And, the pages are perforated, so easy to tear out However, the scissors are plastic, no sharp edge, so they are crap for cutting. If the scissors were decent, I’d give this 5 stars.

Thicker paper makes it easier for kids to hold and cut.
I bought this and one other book for cutting. I definitely prefer this book, it is great for beginners! The biggest plus is that it has thicker paper than just a regular piece of paper which makes it so much easier for the kids to hold straight and cut. It also has easier pages for beginners. Love it!

Awesome starter scissors
Awesome starter scissors. My 2 year old has been using them since he was 18 months old! They really cut paper!

Big hit!
My 3.5 yr old LOVES this book! The curved ones are more hard and she does struggle but she does really well with the straighter lines and she will sit for a while focusing on cutting! The scissors arent the best so i use regular saftey scissors but overall a great buy!

Granddaughter loves this!
My four year old granddaughter enjoyed cutting out the various puzzles and designs in this book. It encourages the fine motor skills necessary in cutting with a scissors.

At first I doubted that you could cut anything with scissors that don't have metal blades. But then I realized that it's enough to show the child that you can't put your whole fingers through the holes of both arms, but just the beginnings of your fingers and open the arms of the scissors and start cutting the paper deep in the opened scissors, then it works great. Our little grandson enjoyed it, he didn't tear the paper, but he cut. Although the scissors are not precise, you can't cut details with them, but as the first scissors to understand the principle of what happens to paper and scissors when cutting, they are excellent.

I wanted to teach my 3 year old how to use scissors, so we got some Crayola scissors (after reading reviews here that these ones weren't great quality) and got this book. She LOVES IT. I love that the book has a natural kind of progression from easier to harder, that they can work forward with. The paper is nice and sturdy, but it also cuts well with safety scissors. So cute.

Daughter needed to practice her fine motor skills further but fines standard cutting skills activities boring and repetitive , I was looking for an activity she could practice these skills but still have fun and this is perfect. There’s lots of different shapes and patterns to cut out, often ones that are like puzzles so she can cut them out and then glue them back together or cut out the images and use them to make a scene / collage etc Great if your child is a little older and needs to practice these skills as it’s not too babyish. (It comes with toddler scissors that only cut paper too which is a bonus if you’re concerned about them cutting hair and clothing but we just used her normal scissors we already had at home!)
