ISE Database System Concepts

In terms of academic content, I found this textbook very helpful and well-organised.HOWEVER, I find it extremely important that I raise the following concern:I noticed that whenever the author was describing something in relation to a RANDOM/implicit third person, the author ALWAYS defaulted to the female “she” or “her” or “hers” ONLY, RATHER THAN “he or she” or “his or hers” or “one” or “their” or “theirs” for personal pronouns, possessive determiners, and possessive pronouns. Apart from finding this very jarring and confusing when trying to concentrate while reading the text, I ultimately also find this to be EXTREMELY SEXIST and FUNDAMENTALLY OFFENSIVE, and INTENTIONALLY so. There is absolutely NO good reason the author / editor couldn’t simply be inclusive and clearer by using “he or she”, “one”, “their” etc in these parts of the text. It goes without saying, but there aren’t just women in this world - men are people too! Last time I checked, the statistics show that most IT students and professionals are men as well, the same men who would be forced to read this sexist textbook by their university.Because of this, I would not recommend this textbook, nor any other sexist academic material, to anyone and will be raising this issue with my university as well. I’m sure there are plenty of other textbooks that do just as good of job of explaining database systems without the unnecessary exclusion of males throughout the text.
