Getting Ready for Marriage

I used this book, and the manual, for premarital counseling, when I was serving as the pastor of a congregation. It is a good tool for having people work through/talk through all of their expectations around family of origin, finances, the future, communications - great stuff that people often don't really examine. I found this through our church music director, who recommended it to ME when I was counseling him and his fiance! So it gets a double recommendation! As I told all of the people who came to me asking me to do their weddings, "I don't care as much WHAT you decide about these as I care THAT you talk about these things!!"

Great book

This is one of the best resources available for those who are getting started on their journey together in marriage. As a pastor I would recommend this to anyone who is engaged, thinking of engagement, or leading couples through pre-marital counseling. When combined with the workbook and available online application for couples these resources provide an incredible advantage to any couple. Complete with great thoughts, questions, discussion topics, and pivotal issues couples face in marriage this is a MUST HAVE resource!

Good Tool

My fiancé and I are going through this book with our pastor and we do like it. My only issue is that this book seems to be geared a bit more for couples that have only been together for a year or less. My fiancé and I will have been together for four years when we get married. We still really like the book and think the stories and topics are great. It's a super easy read. The workbook is a bit heavy but asks good questions and overall we got a lot out of our time.

My fiancé and I would go to the park or coffee and read it and it helped us have some great convo that were fun, tough, prayer inspired, grace filled, tearful but lead to deeper love and understanding of one another. A friend saw me reading it at work and I even bought her a copy because she was engaged too. I only read it with my girl tho. I’m a dude man and I don’t buy stuff to give away but this book made me want to see my friends marry right.

I love this book because it is easy to navigate.

An amazing guide for those who are thinking about getting engaged or are already engaged. There were topics neither my girlfriend or I had thought about. The topics were thought provoking and a few really challenged us. We are stronger and better prepared for marriage thanks to this book! We will be buying the work kit, wish we had instead of the book on its own.

Der Versand war unmöglich. Der Artikel sollte nach 3 Tagen da sein. Das Buch kam nicht an, weil angeblich eine falsche Adresse angegeben wurde. Musste zweimal bei Hermes anrufen, bis eine Beschwerde eingereicht und das Buch erneut versendet wurde. Das Warten hat sich jedoch mehr als gelohnt. Ich liebe das Buch. Mein Freund und ich wollen heiraten und man redet über einzelne Seiten und Fragen, die in dem Buch gestellt werden stundenlang, wozu man aber auch aufgefordert wird. Durch das Lesen und gemeinsame Reden/Beten wächst man noch enger zusammen. Es werden alle relevanten Themen angesprochen. Auf jeden Fall emphelenswert für Paare, die vorhaben, zu heiraten und nach einem Ehevorbereitungsbuch suchen.

Very encouraging

Very simple and practical writing I'd recommend to all about to wed or even already wedded My fiance and I read this together.

I have read this book and started to use the workbook with my girlfriend. The book is good for couples (Or the part of a couple) who wants more high fibre pre mariage material. Although written from a christian viewpoint, most chapters in the book can be useful for non-christians. This book (and the work book) is all about getting the foundation prepared before mariage. As they state in the book - 50 % og mariages end in divorce. However, the rate is dropped with 30% if a couple do pre marital preparations. So buy this book if you want more confidence in your relationship or need confirmation in your compatability. I withhold one star as the book's chapters regarding sexuality and re-mariage(Which I find weird to include) is somewhat dissapointing.
