Corroseal 80022 Water-Based Rust Converter Application Cleaner - 1 Qt

This is a great CLEANER & DEGREASER, this is NOT a rust converter. The Amazon information is confusing and has caused others like me to purchase the wrong item. The manufacturer’s description is clear, the phrase “rust converter” is never used to describe this item there. AMAZON- PLEASE CORRECT THIS LISTING.

This product works very well as long as you are diligent and follow the recommendations. Get all loose rust off and then use the cleaner to degrease. Give plenty of time to dry then Apply. It went on great and I added a top coat of paint.

Works to kill rust but leaves an ugly brown rust looking stain on metal, it's hard to remove and hard to paint over so be careful applying only as much as needed and wipe excess away.

I followed the instructions, and it transformed a rusty surface into a paintable clean metal window frame. Great find.

This product does not convert rust. It is just and overpriced degreaser cleaner. No rust conversion to black took place on my project. What product are these 5 star reviewers using? This Corroseal 800332 green rust Converter did not convert rust to black, do not fall for it. It does what any other cheaper degreaser would have done. It cleaned and degreased well but no so called conversion to black took place. So I had to paint over it as expected.

Rust was eating away at my truck’s rear quarter panels. Took a wire wheel on a power tool and ground out anything that was being eaten by rust. Cleaned with Corroseal cleaner and then applied the Rust Coverter. Quick, clean and very effective. Stopped the rust in its tracks. Waited a few days and sealed it with automotive spray paint.

Works as described. The only issue was an odd powdery reaction with some brand-new steel I had welded into the floor of the car. It must have had a coating on it that I wasn’t aware of. Other replacement sections from a different source had no such reaction. Time will tell if this is a problem.
