We got this for our 3 month old Pit/Lab/Mastiff puppy. She had been chewing like crazy on her original 6' nylon leash, which made walks annoying and difficult. This leash has been a life-saver. Although she still attempts to bite it every once in a while, she quickly stops (because it doesn't feel good) and the walk can proceed as planned. A few other things I like...- I was worried it'd be too short, but 4' has been perfect -- especially for a dog that's still learning how to properly walk on a leash.- I'm not sure if it's the weight of the leash, but she has also become a slightly better walker with it. She doesn't pull as much and seems to be a bit calmer in general than with her nylon leash.Great buy.

My pit/boxer mix just loves to destroy traditional nylon leashes. After adopting him and going through two nylon leashes in about a month, we needed something else. He still jumps and goes for the handle, but it's improved his walks 10 fold easily.It's heavier than a nylon leash (obviously) but I can handle it fine and my boyfriend hardly notices. I'm not terribly worried about pinching my hands in the chain links either.The leash is finely made and the handle is a plus. A little short though, but it helps with training him to walk beside us.

My dog could quickly chew through fabric leashes while in the car on the way to do something fun for her so we got this one specifically for car rides. This way we still have a leash when we get to our destination. However, when we took her in for training, the trainer said this leash was too heavy to effectively use when leash training and it does cause the collar to spin around from the weight. Unless you have an extremely large (100+ pounds) and unruly dog, you can probably use a lighter chain leash.

I bought this 4 years ago because my puppy kept chewing threw all of the other ones. I was able to leash train her with this and I still use it today. I never had to buy another one.It's been 6 years and I have no complaints about this leash. Works just as good as day 1. Very happy :)

We found that our newest miniature poodle, a 4-year-old rescue dog, could chew through a fabric or leather leash in about 15 minutes if we used it to tie him in the house. He may have learned the trick if he was tied up a lot at his former home.This medal chain leash does the job. The chain is smooth and does not hurt the hand if we need to shorten up by grasping the metal while on walks. It is not too heavy, but more than fabric. It does the job.

I have recently started writting reviews for products I buy because I read the reviews before I buy the product and the reviews really help, so here it is... I love this leash with a passion, it is so heavy and strong and I know it will never break or get torn apart by my Pitbull/Lab 10 month old that has ripped through the last 2 leashes I bought. BUY IT if your dog is a chewer, and runs through leashes! Great Great Product, much better than I expected and much heavier, stronger, and well made than I expected for the price. Hope this helps!

My dog has not been able to chew up the metal links in this leash. The only problem is that it is a bit heavy and it did get a knot in it that I cannot untangle, but it still works out better for me with my Aussie Shepherd than any nylon leash which she loves to shred. She could chew the strap handle on this leash, but so far, has not shown an interest in doing this.

My dog who will chew the nylon leashes but not chain ones, like this one. It seems to be good quality and heavy duty. Good price. I have not had it that long but looks like it will last. I just have to keep the handle out of my dog's reach. The handle is nylon and my dog will chew it. I wish the handle was black leather instead of nylon but it works. Then again, leather requires upkeep.
