BeeCastle 8 Frame Langstroth Bee Hive Coated with Beeswax Includes Beehive Frames and Waxed Foundations (1 Deep Box & 1 Medium Box)

This is my first 8 frame Langstroth Beehive, I've been using ten frame beehives for many years. One of my neighbors helped me clear the fallen oaks off my home thanks to Hurricane Milton. (been through many Cat 5 storms, but Milton handed me my tail) My neighbor is a great guy, and had a Wood Duck habitat that was invaded by some really calm bees, so I bought this beehive for him. I have to say it was well built, and easy to assemble. It was appreciated that all the wooden parts had a heavy coating of beeswax, which is rare. First time I assembled a hive that my hands were coated by some of the transferred wax. This hive is still in my garage as I know better than to rehome bees during a polar vortex, even in Florida. Soon as it warms up a bit, we'll drop his duck box and transfer the bees to their new home. Truthfully I have no idea how many bees are in the duck box since its so high up in an oak tree, this cold spell is giving me some time to build a 8 frame to 10 frame brood box adapter, so I can give him an extra ten frame brood box I have on hand if his duck box is loaded with more bees than can fit in this. I've never ordered a beehive from Amazon, and normally use a specific companies hives, but this didn't disappoint in any way.

The item arrived as scheduled. I am very pleased with the quality of the box. It appears to be very sturdy. Assembly was quick and easy once my husband started working on it. Overall, I am very happy with my purchase.

A fairly heavy package, I couldn’t imagine what could make it so heavy. The box was filled with beautiful waxed sections, top and bottoms and pine pieces for the frame. The quality of the wood and cuts were flawless. The instructions were basically non existent but viewing the videos, I quickly figured it out. The dove tail joints easily and snugly fit together as the frames. The boxes have holes and screws but the frames use small nails. The instructions mention adding wood glue and I think it’s important. Also, I would worry about the frame wood splitting when nailing so I’m going to use a small drill to make holes to prevent wood splitting. Everything was there and with a few months till spring, I think this bee box is a winner. Contrary to other posts, this box was well coated with wax.

I will start this review by saying I am very critical of products I purchase from amazon. That being said I was very impressed by this Langstroth hive. The dove tail joints that it came with were perfectly cut and fit together very tightly and perfectly flush! The wax coating was better than I could've expected! The frames fit together tightly and with the provided nails are very strong! The only thing I wish it came with, were a little more detailed assembly instructions, but I laid everything out and figured it out with out a hitch! This is going to be my first hive and if I ever have success and need another I will without hesitation buy another from this company. New beekeeper here so I looked for a sturdy hive yet economical. I bought two. They were delivered quick and no damage. Outer boxes appear to be cedar and are nicely waxed. The instructions are really, really basic but it's easy to figure out once the parts are laid out. Screws and nails were included but it wasn't clear what screws went where. Dovetail pieces for the boxes went together tightly and had to use a hammer. I glued every frame and always use TiteBond3 on my wood projects. TiteBond3 is non-toxic, food safe and has incredible strength. I also used smaller nails as the nails provided will split wood if one doesn't pick up a hammer all year. Air or electric nailer would be great and speed up the process. Foundation sheets didn't fit tight and slide a little in the frame. They won't come out but slide about a 1/4 inch. Not sure if it's supposed to do that. They look great and I have one more to assemble. Looking to buy bees soon. Can't wait! I will update after some use.

this showed up. I put this hive together in about 15 minutes and if I tried to build this myself I'd be committing a day to each new hive. I thought I would buy one of these and use it as a guide to build the other 6 I need. This is just too nice and too well built for the money for me to try to save $50 or so per unit and make the other 5 myself. I'm very handy so the work to replicate this doesn't scare me but the time to produce this given the cost savings isn't there. I am tickled by the quality of this hive. it's coated with a waxy substance and goes together like fine furniture. It feels good to get good value like this.

These are by far the best-made bee boxes I've found. The precision of the millwork is outstanding, and the wax/oil finish is superb. That they are screwed together (screws provided) was an unexpected bonus. And they are competitively priced. As a bit of advice, regardless of who you buy unassembled frames from, consider getting a battery-powered pin nailer (Ryobi) rather than trying to hand-nail them together. I use a bit of glue (Titebond III or similar) when putting the frame parts together, then use a 3/4" pin nail to reinforce them. - Fast, easy, and rock solid.

Bought the kits from amazon, but also purchased extra super boxes from the Bee Castle Company website. Im giving 5 stars, even though I did end up getting a bee box that was sightly damaged upon arrival, im rating 5 stars because the company immediately resolved the issue and sent me another box as replacement hassle free. The instructions were pretty clear, and I think the bees are going to be very happy in their new boxes!

I am very impressed with this beehive. It was very easy to assemble and is well-built. Everything fit perfectly. I recommend purchasing a set of hive feet to resist ant invasion. I fill mine with grease, once the ants learn they cannot access the hive, they quit trying.

This is an excellent quality hive and was a great deal for the price I paid. It arrived promptly. Unfortunately, it was damaged in transit and I had to return. This is of no fault of the seller, and my return was hassle free. Unfortunately they sold out of this model and I had to source my hive elsewhere, and it cost significantly more for a very similar product.

Magnifique façon de passer du bon temps à bricoler pour fabriquer une maison pour les abeilles. Très simple et facile. J’ai collé les cadres en plus de les clouer pour une plus grande solidité. Je suis nouveau dans ce domaine. J’ai bien hâte d’établir ma colonie.
