Does this stand have to put mounted down with screws and if not will it fall over?

You do not need to screw the Dewey down, it works great as a freestanding unit however depending on usage you always have the option to secure the Dewey with screws.

Could this work with an acer tablet?

The Dewey was designed for iPad and iPad mini as well as Smartphones so it most likely will work with your Acer tablet but please check the below before order. There are two brackets to support either larger devices or phones, please check you device size before ordering. Tablet bracket will hold devices as small as 7.75"(19.7 cm) x 9.25" (23.2 cm) and as large as 9.25" (23.5 cm) x 10.5" (26.7 cm) Phone bracket will hold devices as small as 2" (5 cm) wide and as large as 3.38" (8.6 cm) wide. Does this come with an iPad cable adapter?

It is just the stand and the green hook for headphones... no cables

Does this work as a stand to hold the I pad camera when needing to take photos of documents ?

I use my Copernicus for both ipad and phone. Its adaptable for both. I’ve found that it works best to use a large sheet of white paper abutted against the stand in order to eliminate extraneous background. You may have to adjust your photo size to eliminate all distracting background. As with all copystands, you may need adjust focus, image size and have a couple of external light sources to eliminate unwanted shadows. I’ve been very satisfied with mine.

I purchased this to attach iPad as document camera. I had used Pinterest to scope out ideas to build one using pvc, but finally decided to buy this. I did not purchase new but used. It arrived in excellent condition. The only thing which appeared used in box was assembly manual. I found it easy to assemble and use. I can screen mirror my iPad to smart screen and use any book or worksheet for instruction. It also allows me to elevate iPad so I can stand without bending over or holding iPad for other uses. Despite other reviews, mine does not wobble on table and is sturdy. I found it light weight enough for easy portability also. For someone who has taught with the old overheads and newer Elmos, this is a notch above. Very pleased.

The Document Camera Stand would be great if it was stationary. We were looking fore a portable solution and thought it might work, but the employees who tried it said it was too heavy to pack around and a lot of the images they took were blurry because it wiggled as they set it up on different counters and spaces. I do think if someone mounted it to a table it would work superbly.

The buttons on the post are difficult to press in to raise or lower the post. It took two of us to get the post to lower. I do like the ease of putting the camera stand together and the sturdiness of it.
