I'll Be There for You: The One about Friends

I knew the moment I found out about the release of this book I had to have it! I’ve always LOVED Friends. This show really shaped me when I was growing up. It’s been such a big part of my life, and I’d like to think that a lot of my humorous personality comes from this show. This book gave me that extra dose of Friends I haven’t had in many years. It’s exciting to know the show is still very much alive, and there’s so many of us who still consider the show our top favorite OF ALL TIME! It was so interesting to read how it all started, how the cast came to be the cast.. I learned so many things I had no clue, about my favorite show! It also really opened my eyes to many topics I had never thought of regarding the show, its people, and its humor. I have read it, and I have also listened to the audiobook version, and I feel it will be the kind of novel that will never get old to read. And of course, right after I finished reading the book, I started watching the show.. It has that impact.. I recommend to all original fans of the show, and new ones. You will find so much more then what you’re expecting from this book! This book is great if you are a Friends tv show fan. It goes over the ins and outs of the show and the characters. I have read it about 3 times now and gave it as gifts for some friends who are just as obsessed as I am with the show. Each time I read it, I take away more info then I did the time before. I will miss Chandler so much and this book relives him for me!

I thoroughly enjoyed this book!!! Goes through not only the history of the show, but how it was created, how the actors were cast, the cultural and social phenomenon of the show, the “almost” series finale (season 9) and the actual series finale (season 10). It also tells about salary negotiations and the behind the scene friendships. One review here that I saw said they spent an “inordinate amount of time” discussing racism/sexism/lgbqt….and I couldn’t disagree more. It was a part of one chapter and well done. Nothing about it was political at all. Overall, GREAT read!! Definitely would recommend to any Friends fan!!

I saw this at a bookstore and was immediately fascinated. It was the Danish translation though, and thus really expensive, so I waited a bit and bought the (MUCH) cheaper kindle version instead. I'm glad I made that decision, because while I enjoyed reading it, it's just not good enough to warrant the 250DKK price-tag it had in the Danish bookshop. I'm glad to have read it, and loved revisiting the show in this fashion, but parts were also really dry and I ended up skimming pretty much anything that wasn't specifically about the filming of the show itself. It was a good read, and I'm glad I got my hands on it, but at the end of the day, it contained fewer anecdotes and more dry facts than I had expected, and is not really a book I'm likely to reread.

She is a good writer who shares insight into a very popular show. Recommend. I'm glad she included the California Supreme Court case about some of the misogynistic writers.

No matter what anyone tells me, there is no greater television show than friends. We grew up with them. They made us laugh, cry, gasp and every other range of emotion there is. This book is an amazing road trip down the intersects and complications of the wonderful show. There really is so muchto our culture and society that this show really captured, this book is an incredible opportunity to learn and dive more. We were literally just watching a show last night where "the rachel" was applied to a meme. It's how many years later and we're still talking about her hair. It's a great reminder of why it's so easy to connect to this show. HIGHLY reocmmend this book.

Really interesting read with a fresh and modern perspective on Friends. I’ll admit that I’m not a super fan of the show, but I am very interested in television and this book goes in to depth about why it became popular, how meaningful it is, and it puts the original air dates of the episodes into the context of history and pop culture they were in and how their meaning may change now. Of course, it helps to watch the show and specific episodes along with the book if you’re not a super fan because it is very in depth, but overall it’s very interesting!

Great book with lots of interesting information about this amazing show

Anfänglich war ich nicht ganz so glücklich über die Tatsache, dass das Buch in einem Zustand zugeliefert worden ist, als wäre es nicht neu. Es war gewellt und sah einfach benutzt aus. Ich glaube allerdings, dass das an den kalten Temperaturen lag, wodurch sich das Cover und die Seiten dann eben etwas verformt haben. Inhaltlich: Klare Kaufempfehlung! Wie toll ist das Buch denn bitte? Für jeden Hardcore Friends fan ist das ein Muss. Man erfährt so viel mehr über die Show, was einfach schön ist, wenn man jede Staffel knapp 50+ Mal gesehen hat und nun neue Dinge über Friends "sieht". 😁 Ich bin mehr als glücklich, das Buch geholt zu haben.
