This was a birthday gift for my son that turned 12 he loves to draw. He definitely has a old soul so when I saw this I knew it would be perfect. The day he opened his b-day gift he loved it and almost started to cry because he said he had only seen these journal in movies and that he wanted one. Keep this in mind he never told me this. My point is if you know some who loves to draw or doodle this is the perfect gift. It is made VERY VERY well. It will last for years to come. It also comes with a little felt doggie used for a bookmaker, it easily comes off if you don’t want it on. This journal sketchbook is thee perfect gift. The quality is thee best. It will last years and years to come.

This is a beautiful book. It would make a great gift. The older it gets the better it is. Love this.

This is an excellent notebook. I just wish that it had gotten grid paper. The paper is a very porous so it absorbs marker ink and spreads.

Good texture great leather

This is a lovely journal. It has an old-timey kind of feel to it, and it is bound in a leather flap that wraps around the pages and is then held shut with a long leather strap. It is very attractive and giftable. The journal comes in a fabric bag, adding an extra level of love and care to the gift. It was also a lot bigger than I thought it was going to be. The journal is heavier than a standard paperback book, and close to the size of an iPad mini in a case. There is a little felt dog bookmark included, but depending on the intended gift recipient, you might remove that and just give them the journal (and have an extra little present for a dog lover).

My oldest son loves to sketch and I have purchased him more sketchbooks than I can even count at this point, but I have never been able to get him something this exquisite until now. The book looks and feels so serious, and is very well made. It has that "old adventurer" feel to it. This is something that looks like it was snatched right out of a movie set in the 18 or 1900s. I like that it doesn't look like it was made by some exact machine. It has an authentic hand made quality about it the way goods used to be. I removed the dog on a string, which was easy as it was just sitting in there. He had no use for that, but maybe someone would. Ultimately this will come down to price effectiveness. It is a well-craft item and it looks beautiful. It arrived wrapped in tissue paper inside a clear plastic bag so you might want to consider how you would package it if giving as a gift. 5 stars until I find a reason not to.
