Not the finest, but certainly not the worst. Great for beginners and perfect for improv/roleplay without being intimidating by brandishing an actual balisong. The Comb teeth aren't the best as a comb due to their spacing and metallic sharpness against the scalp but works well enough.

I got two of these and liked them, so I ordered two more with different colored handles. One flips open pretty well, but doesn’t close. It took some effort to open it when it arrived and the ‘lock’ cannot be used. It’s as if the mechanism isn’t long enough to lock. It appears to be centered on the handle. So maybe it is shorter. Two others lock closed, but with difficulty. One locks closed securely, but easily and is easily opened again. Three of the four I have are very stiff when flipping them open. Very stiff. While my hair is short enough for me to actually use the shallow teeth of the comb itself, their stiff operation, unfortunately, makes them impractical and little more than a novelty. So the idea is cool. They seem sturdy. And they are almost useable, but the inconsistency in design means you’re as likely, (or more likely), to get one that doesn’t work properly as you are to get one that works as it should.

Great balisong combs! Comes in a pair! My son and I love them! Great safe way to practice for the real ones! Not such a great comb because the metal teeth are not filed so it scratches the skin and pulls your hair if you use it as a comb but excellent as a legal way of carrying and practicing balisong anywhere you go!

WARNING: Do not waste your money on this if you're looking to practice balisong regularly. If you are simply using this as a comb it's probably fine and rarely open it. I had this for less than 48 hours and one already fell into pieces. It's cheap though so I get what I pay for but I cannot recommend it.

Those other reviews you've read are right. The hinges on this thing are extremely stiff out of the box. The latch on the black knife was way too large to hold the handles in place and the comb became almost impossible to swing after about an hour of use. The comb isn't that good either, which I don't mind since I'm mainly using this to practice. This product is an $8 gimmick toy but it at least looks cool. I would treat this as a novelty item or desk decor rather than a balisong trainer/usable comb. Also keep in mind: there are a dozen other listings of this same product under different brands. Try to avoid those ones since they probably have the same issues.

Fun, and functional as a comb. These don't have any lateral play in them as far as I can tell, and they are really sturdy. My son has really enjoyed practicing with them. I think they were a great purchase. My only complaint is a minor one, the edges on the comb teeth are just a little sharp and can leave some marks or small nicks on your fingers when spinning it, but they are minor and really just encourage you to do better to avoid them, I suppose.
