Famous Trains Coloring Book: Legendary Steam, Diesel, and Passenger Trains from Around the World (Dover Planes Trains Automobiles Coloring)

I bought several Dover Coloring books for my 8 year old son, along with a package of colored pencils. He already draws such detailed pictures of trains and I thought he would appreciate these books.....they did not disappoint. The coloring books are definitely geared towards older children and are art quality...the kind of drawings I would imagine accompany the design board for a new car or product. My son is probably on the lower end of the age scale because the drawings are very detailed and require a little more advanced dexterity than your average coloring book, but he has already finished one picture and hung it on his wall...and that was the whole point for buying these. I also appreciate the descriptions that appear with the pictures...he and I are learning together about the trains and cars that are featured in the books. If you have a child or young adult who is into cars or trains and also enjoy art I highly recommend these books.

My 3 year old son loves this coloring book - have already purchased it twice!

My 6 year old son loves it but this could easily be enjoyed by all ages. He enjoys the realism. Each train has a map of the train line along with an exterior and interior coloring page. There’s a small paragraph detailing the history of the the train too. Side note: my son has autism and prefers real train images verse cartoon-like imagery. There are not many coloring books out like this one for the price. We’ve purchased at least 10 of this coloring book.

When I first opened Famous Trains, I was disappointed. As a long time Model Railroader, I tend to be very detailed oriented. Bruce's treatment ot the various running gears at first disappointedd me. But when I examined the pictures in their total context, I must say that I am very satisfied with the product. Bruce gives us inside and outside shots of each featured train including some pictures with passengers, adding new challenges to the coloring activity. I use pencils -- mostly Crayola and Rose Art, and one set of pictures can keep me busy for several hours.

I purchased this for my nephew who is a train freak. He loved it! It is detailed enough to satisfy an older colorer as well, but I do not think it is a good choice for very young children. I'd say pre-teen to adult. I always gift with colored pencils as they seem to be easier to use than traditional crayons. And of course, you can find many choices on Amaoz to send with your book.

One of three Dover coloring books given this Christmas to a nine year old boy. He loves the book according to his parents. I make art boxes for little kids as gifts. Dover has a coloring book and a subject for any one almost any age that can old a colored pencil or crayon. These books given with a set of colored pencils and a pencil sharpener especially for colored pencils was the best praise and feedback I have received on a children's gift. I included safety scissors, rulers, transparent tape, child safe glue, a inexpensive drawing pad, and other items so the kids could not only color but cut out and make other items from the coloring books.

Top-notch!! I am so impressed with this coloring book...I'm ordering a 2nd one! Both sides of the paper but that is easily over come by photocopying onto thick paper. Such great coloring images. The pages show famous trains, including The Oriental Express, and The City of Los Angeles.

Like many of the Dover coloring books, this one is well drawn on better paper. There is a lot of information on each page about trains. Great value for the cost. Made a little boy who loves trains very happy.

My son loves this colouring book. It is detailed for colouring and has information about the trains which is pretty neat.

Great for grand kids

Very nice colouring book, but it’s not for very young kids. It has so many details in each drawing that one should be able to do the colouring justices. Very good colouring book for even adults and can be kept as a valuable informative book on trains.

We appreciate the diverse backgrounds, descriptions, and information provided for each train, and we also enjoy the inclusion of maps showing their routes.
