Fantastic, Colorful Acrylic Paint Pens!
This Artistro medium tip set is everything I need! I love how these pens work really well for all of my illustrations. The 2mm medium size tip is perfect for filling in large areas of my artwork without needing to spend hours with a small tip. There is a great range of color in this set, including many bright tones and pastel shades. There are two metallic pens included in the set and they are both incredibly shiny and look fantastic. I really like that the pack includes an extra white and an extra black marker since those will undoubtedly be used frequently. The paint pens are very easy to prime (following the printed instructions that are included) by shaking and pumping, and start working very fast. The paint does not spill out of the pens and there was no leaking once primed. My favorite thing about them is that the barrels are clear, so I can see exactly when my paint is properly mixed, and how much ink is left inside. Colors are bold on paper, and are so opaque and bright that they would be excellent for rock painting too. The colors all layer very nicely on top of each other after completely dried. You can even paint with a lighter color over a darker one and it works really well! Paint has a nice semi-gloss finish. A nice little extra benefit of these markers is that the caps have a stopper on them so they don't roll off your desk when not being used. Highly recommend picking up a set whether you're new to acrylic markers, or you're looking to fill your library with new and exciting colors!

Some worked great, others didn't work at all
I've come back to edit this review, and changed it from 2 to 5 stars. They're all working great now after many months of use. It took me a little time to get the hang of paint pens. They're better than my newer Posca pens for sure. AmyL I've had these for a couple of months, and I'm using them on gesso covered paper. A few of them work really great! About a third of them were scratchy from the start and never improved. Some of them had to be banged ferociously hard on the nib to get the paint flowing. Some I had to bang, push down and hold for several minutes before they would work. None of this seemed to damage the nib, so we're good there! Some of the pens just never would work. The colors are awesome and the quality of the paint is excellent for the price. But if they don't all function correctly there is no point in owning them. Given all the positive reviews, I suspect I got a lemon, perhaps an old set. Whatever. On to another brand.

These are great for wood, but I wish I wasn't sent a used set.
I have the older version of these pens, and decided to get newer stock. I do woodworking, and some of the details on my pieces need to be colored with acrylic paint pens. This newer version works even better than my previous set. The colors are stronger, richer, and have better coverage. I really like the fact that now the pens are labeled with codes on the pen tops to match the color swatches on the box, so there isn't any confusion between colors that appear similar. I am a bit disappointed I was sent a previously-bought set, as the box was already opened at the bottom (the seal was already peeled back, but the top seal was totally intact), and I found four pens in it [so far] that were all ready primed and obviously used. Just make sure to double-check that you don't get a used product for the price paid.

Great coverage and easy to use
Received these pens and so far have used them for painting rocks and labeling jars. I’ve painted smooth and rough rocks with them. Very good paint coverage. Nice selection of colors and really appreciate having an extra white and black pen in the set. Follow the directions for use included in box. You need to shake the pen a bit and then press and hold tip down on scrap paper to get the paint to flow from the barrel to the tip of the marker. This takes a good 40 seconds or more. Be patient. It’s worth it! Remember to shake with lid on prior to each subsequent use, too. Once you get the paint flowing, the markers are very easy to use. Opaque color coverage. Wait til color is completely dry before painting over with the next color.

I love love love these. It's forever my go to paint pens.
I have MS so Im always on the pursuant to find product's that allow me to continue doing the things I love. Before trying Artistro paint markers, I tried several other cheaper brands. I personally feel ARTISTRO acrylics are totally worth every penny. The ink paint is rich in color and flows evenly. The others have the tendency to gum up,spatter and the colors are UNEVEN . you spend too much time going over your work. What a chore. ARTISTRO ink paint comes out right the first time. I find the end results rewarding. ***I personally spend a few minutes and shake all my paint markers up prior to starting a project. I put on some upbeat music and put 4 or 5 in each hand and shake shake shake. IT'S A WIN WIN! I get a little artsy warmup workout and I don't have to stop my creative flow to get my pen markers started. ***REMEMBER to IMMEDIATELY wipe off the tips after each use a put the cap back on tight. The ink dries quickly. *I have taken a bit of rubbing alcohol on a cloth and cleaned the tips when I accidentally cross contaminated them with other colors. If you start seeing this, you have to let your masterpiece dry a bit. Happy trees to you. 😊

My favorite rock painting pens...
Hands down my favorite brand of paint pens. I use them primarily for painted rocks. They have good coverage and the tips are durable despite the rock surfaces. I love the variety of colors. This is a nice tip size if you are a beginner at rock painting because you have enough ink if you need a base coat but the medium point tip can also be fairly fine if you use it for dot painting. It’s smart that the box includes an extra white and black since these are common colors. My rock painting friends also ask me how I get my white so bright. I sometimes double coat, but it’s a frequent enough observation I give credit to this brand having a superior white color. Happy creating!

I have bought hundreds of paint markers and until now have never seen such a complete set of instructions/ suggestions/ recommendations. Totally impressed right from opening the box! I am loving the clear tube, it's so easy to see how well the color is mixed, plus how much you have left. I flipped the nib to confirm it wasn't going to be an issue, it's great! No overflow, no gushing. The flow is so smooth and easy. There is a great assortment of colors. Even with colored caps and clear tubes I do wish the colors were written on the pen. The red, orange and yellows do not match the guide. If you need a "true" red, this is more of a coral red than Christmas red; still beautiful, bright, opaque, but not red red, nor orange orange. Has no effect on the great quality but just an fyi.

If you were hoping to make artworks Angela Pan style, these markers would not be your main set. I recommend going straight to Poscas first as the flow is superior, even compared to Molotows. When you look closely at the nibs, the Posca nibs are the best, at least for work that would require a fair amount of blending. The problem with these Artistros is that the flow and consistency isn't always good. I primed them properly, shaking them a good amount of time, pressing the nib down, capping and stand on the cap until the paint is flowing. I find I have to shake these many more times to get the paint consistent, compared to Poscas which only require shaking like, 10 times. These require shaking 50 times or more. Even after shaking them so many times, some I have shook 100 times or more, you can see in the swatch that there is still a strange transparency to them, like it's not mixed properly. The paint also does not flow out thickly. This is not a problem if you want to create more graphic works, which paint markers are mostly known for. It simply requires the application of a second layer. However for works that need blending, you can't do it. You see in the circles test, the Posca is on the left and the Artistro is on the right This is because the paint of the yellow marker does not flow easily and the nib dries out, making blending into the orange marker difficult. The orange artistro has a better flow than the yellow. Overall for this price, I would prefer to have gotten a smaller set of Posca markers instead of this wide range of colors due to the ease of use. In the end, I would only be using these where there are no matching colours in Posca or Molotow. That said - I am trying to use these markers for a very specific style and although they were reviewed by the artist herself and she had a good experience - the issue I'd say is that the quality control by Artistro isn't that great. I watched her video a few times and the markers she had did seem to perform better then the ones I got. The Extra Fine Artistros actually perform better - however, one of the nibs has clogged and no amount of soaking seems to be able to unclog it. *Addition The Artistro team has issued me a full refund as they have a 6 month warranty on their products. I think this is amazing customer service. I do wish the pens performed better due to the incredible range of colors. Maybe they'll figure it out some day. That said, I'll gift my set to my 10 year old niece. I reckon she'd like them well enough for her arts and craft.
