is this item easy to use

yes, just drill hole to correct length in the mortar course, cut rod to correct length if necessary (I used a hacksaw and had to cut the rods as the wall was only one brick thick) and push it into the hole. Instructions are on their website and on the packet. Very easy.

Do you install these on the internal walls or external or both as traditionally you inject from both sides when damp proofing?

Good morning,Thank you for your enquiry into Safeguard and our Dryrod product.If you have a solid 9" wall, the Dryrod can be inserted from either the inside or the outside, whichever is more convenient.Alternatively, for a cavity wall with two skins of 4.5" brickwork, the Dryrod can be cut (using the Dryrod cutter) to fit this type of wall. You can then insert the Dryrod from both the interior and the exterior.It is important to note that the Dryrod is designed to be inserted directly into the mortar course. Will these work in a wooden log cabin wall?

I'd use, a waterproofing compound paint, containing fibre for this job.. Or the black rubbery paint, for flat roofs. Or indeed, a really good wood rot protection paint, or sealer... 👍

Can I drill into the external render for a double 9" brick wall where I cant see mortar line. So directly in brick behind external render

Yes it shouldn’t be a problem if you’re not exactly on the mortar line.

Easy fit Damp course

Easy to fit. Involves a lot of drilling 12mm holes. Not sure as to the quality of the chemicals used to create damp course as only just installed. Time will tell.

DRY RODS DO NOT WORK - DO NOT TRUST THEM

SNAKE OIL! DO NOT TRUST THIS PRODUCT OR DRYZONE! 4x50 Rod pack and tools purchased in Nov 23, but the first set not installed until 18/5/24. 1890s property with no DPC on the internal walls. First test run of rods installed on a 5M long single breast internal wall. Installed exactly as per instructions in regard to height above the floor, hole depth and separation (12cm max). Rods placed in the mortar layer and capped straight away with the DryZone XR mortar. Three weeks after fitting I thought they were working (7/6/24), with various moisture readings taken all showing a fall (see pics). I then stepped on and installed the entire 9x50 rod boxes I had since purchased in order to do the whole house (this purchase of 5x50 additional rods)! Then 5 weeks after fitting the first run (22/6/24) we had a week or so of rain and I noticed that the damp had visibly returned, and all the moisture readings taken had gone back up again! This product has presented zero resistance to rising damp. The Dryzone customer service desk is useless and they say they do not guarantee that the product will work even though it does look to have been installed correctly! All in about a grand wasted never mind the time and effort to install.

Ineffective Rising Damp Treatment

I purchased the Dryrod Damp Proofing Rods hoping for a reliable solution, but unfortunately, they did not work as expected. After following the instructions carefully, the damp problem persisted, and there was no noticeable improvement. Despite being BBA-approved and claiming to be stronger than DPC injection creams, the product failed to deliver the promised results. Very disappointed, especially given the cost.
