Fast, Effective (seriously) Do your heels a favor !!!!
I had purchased the battery run version of this and used it from time to time. But when i used it I would use it after using and callous scrubber and a scraper, then a smaller scraper and yes, really, sandpaper !The battery version of this was mainly to smooth the skin after all other efforts were done. This was all time consuming and annoying to say the least. The battery version was "ok" for smoothing and frankly if you had bad heels etc. it would work but I would work for a long time, usually giving up and doing more later that day and it did not really do much. So, thanks to the wonderful folks who answered my questions I decided to give this a try. it came today. Turned it on (about a 6 ft. cord) and proceed to work on my heels. Wow, I fell in love with this thing. The battery version would slow down and even stop if pressure was put on it. And yes, I know you don't want to put too much pressure because you don't want to take skin off, but heck, you need to put "some" pressure if you have callus' or bad heels. For those that want just touching up then the battery version will work. For us with serious problems ... well.. we need this thing!! I stopped after a bit because I did not want to take off too much until I got the hang of this Emjoi but will go back this evening to do more. And I think one more go round will pretty much take care of my heel problem. Not sure how often I will have to do it. That will come with time. But this is so much more easier than anything else I have used (sandpaper included) and loads faster. This is honestly well worth the money. Oh yes, I think it is actually quieter than the battery version too. I might keep the battery version to take on trips though in case touch ups needed But to be honest this Power Emjoi just flat out does the job for me. OH, also, don't always go in the same direction. Changing direction will ensure you are getting a really all around smooth surface. And, don't hold the pedi in the same place too long of course, Besides getting an uneven filing down area you might wind up taking off too much skin in one place. So move it around ! Update: 6/11 Because of the condition of my heels I found I had to use the Emjoi Power about 2 times a day for the last few days. I determined rather than try and undue everything in one go (that would have taken quite some time) By doing some every day I made sure I wasn't taking off too much skin etc. Bottom line my heels were bad enough that doing it in just one time would not have really worked well. So, do some everyday and in a few days you'll be happy. Woke up this morning and rubbed my heels (don't laugh) because previously the jaggedness of my heels would scratch my other leg, get caught in my nightgown etc. Yep not nice. This morning.. my heels are "smoooooooth" ! Just don't rush it, little bit a few times a day until your heels get where you want them. From there as I said I'll see how often I have to touch them up.

My second purchase - this unit works great!
This is the second of these units I've bought. I was very pleased with the first one, and they've improved it since then. (The only issue I had with the original unit was a miniscule spring on the post that holds the roller. The spring wasn't secured to anything, and I eventually lost it when cleaning the unit after use. The manufacturer had now adjusted the design so the spring is secured to the post and can't be lost - excellent!) My feet are callused and quickly get visible dry skin, which looks terrible. If I pumice them, I have to do it twice a week even when it's not sandal season, because the dry skin snags stockings and bed sheets. This unit is so much easier than soaking and pumicing! It's also improved the calluses with continued use over time. I've never tried the battery version but I'm glad I got the corded one - I was worried it would be too powerful and cause bleeding, but no problem with that. Just follow the directions and until you get used to it, gently touch it to the callus for a few seconds at a time. Also, make sure your feet are dry with no recent lotion application, or the abrasive roller won't work as well. It does generate skin dust, so I did it over a (dry) bathtub. The rollers last quite a while; I usually get at least 5-6 uses (both feet) out of one roller. I use the Extra Coarse ones, and sometimes a finer grit for my toes, as the skin there is thinner than on the heel. You can clean it with an old toothbrush or slightly damp Q-tip, but what works even better is one of those spray cans of pressurized air, the kind used to blow dust off computer keyboards. The pressurized air can be used to clean the roller too. This unit is a big time-saver; each session takes me about 10-15 minutes for both feet. I usually do it twice a week. I'm so glad to be done with the 30-45-minute soaking and pumicing! If you're considering one of these units, buy it - you won't be disappointed!

Experience after 6 months
This callus remover worked very well from the first day. It was powerful, easy to use, and very effective. After a little more than 5 months, the drive mechanism began to fail. The motor continued to run smoothly, but the connection between the motor and the roller began to slip. It made a loud, very unpleasant screeching sounds, and was basically unusable. The product came with a 1 year warranty, so I was somewhat optimistic. When I contacted the manufacturer, Emjoi, they told me that the warranty was the responsibility of the company that sold me the product. At that point I realized that I did not buy this directly from Amazon but from a vendor called ShaveNow. A little research led me to an email address for Customer Service at ShaveNow. My inquiry was answered in a matter of hours. After providing copies of the relevant paperwork, I was given a mailing address for the return. I sent the unit in, and a couple of weeks later, they sent me a new Callus Remover. Not some refurb -- a full, brand new, retail package containing a new product. I can't give 5 stars for a product that failed after 5 months of use, but overall, I'm still feeling good about the purchase. if I could, I would certainly give ShaveNow 5 stars for customer service.

A product that does what it says!
I must say, this has been THE BEST heath care purchase I have ever made. This product does exactly what it says it will do, only better. I know that is high praise, but in this case it is worth it. I'm 50, walk a lot golfing and do a lot of stuff around the house and my feet were, well, terrible. I tried every different kind of foot care oil you could ever think of to get my feet back to where they were soft. Let me tell you, my feet HURT as they were so dry with cracks in them. They didn't break open or nothing like that but they were sore. My wife, each night, put on the foot treatment and nothing ever helped. She was so worried about my feet as they were so dry, more so in the winter, that she told me that I had some yellow spots on my feet! Well, the dry dead skin was so thick, it was, frankly gross. And I am a clean freak! I purchased the Micro-Pedi with the cord as I didn't want to fart around with batteries. The cord is nice and long. The first time I tried it, wow, my feet were 50% better. My wife and I could not believe it. So, I used it for one week, each day with my wife helping me. I'm now down to 4 times a week, for a few seconds, just for maintenance of my feet and the results have been nothing short of fantastic. My feet are pink, soft and just like when I was 25. I honestly can't believe it. This is a great product and I can't recommend it enough. I have found that the little rollers last longer than you think and I purchased four more of the Emjoi rollers. Not the after market ones. As a matter of fact, I'm going to buy a second unit for back up and some gift ones. My parents are older and they would love this. My honest opinion is that if you get this product, you will be happy you did. If you saw my feet before and after, you would be amazed.

A gentle "foot grinder"
Let me start out by saying this product is worth every penny they charge for it. The first time I used it I had excellent results and will continue to use it to keep my feet callous free. I have what I consider heavy callouses on the heals of my feet. They are hard and scratchy and just ugly to look at. I bought this tool because the battery operated ones had complaints of the wheel stopping if too much pressure is applied. It turns out the this tool also will stop if too much pressure is applied but this is a safety feature and not a flaw. The product works by spinning a rough cylinder that literally grinds callouses away. If it didn't stop when you pressed hard you would risk damaging the softer skin around and underneath the callous. To properly use this product I would simply sit on a tile floor and gently rub the tool over the calloused areas using just enough pressure to slow the cylinder down slightly. you can hear this by a change in pitch from the motor. At this pressure and speed it is safe to use and will not damage your skin. Just keep it moving over the calloused area and the callous will slowly disappear. What you will leave behind is nice soft skin a pile of skin dust. I kept my vacuum cleaner near by and used it to clean up the mess and then clean up the tool when I was done. I would suggest this tool to anyone. As a side note I bought the extra course cylinders and used them first. They worked fine and weren't too rough.

MUST OWN: My feet haven't looked this good ever!
I had embarrassingly dry callus feet. This stems from years of working retail and this horrible. ugly, dry winter we had recently. I saw this product (the battery operated version) on a recent issue of Marie Claire as a must have from an international editor. After doing my research, I decided to go with the plug in version since reviews state it works much better. I have used the grater-type pedicure tools in the past. I would have to sit there soak my feet, grind into my skin and hope that I wouldn't cut myself shaving my calluses off. After just one use, the Micro-Pedi left my feet looking 1000% times better in just minutes. No need to apply pressure, the machine does all of the work for you. This is perfect since I'm 8 months pregnant and maneuvering has become increasingly difficult. Even if your feet aren't nearly as bad as mine were, it pays for itself. The average cost for a pedicure is $30 and in two sessions at the salon, you recoup the cost and can have gorgeous feet all year long. And you won't have to worry about contracting a bacterial infection from bad sanitary practices at a nail salon. Best part is that there is no need to soak your feet. Just use the Micro-Pedi before showering (must be used on dry feet) and once you are done showering, apply a moisturizer and fluffy socks and you will have super soft feet! I love this so much, I want to buy one for each of my girl friends!! I wish I could post a before and after picture to show how much of a difference it made!!!

Review and comparrison of this model to the Own Harmony
I just received my Emjoi Micro-Pedi POWER - Callus Remover today and used it. Before I go any further, I need to mention that before getting this model, I had the Own Harmony unit. I loved the Own Harmony that I had. It was easy to use, and easy to clean. The only reason that I sent it back and got this one is because the Own Harmony is no Electric, is spite of their claims. The Own Harmony is actually a rechargeable battery. Im guessing that they think they can get away with saying it is Electric because you use Electricity to recharge the batteries. Because the Own Harmony runs on batteries, it is not very powerful. I found that the rollers stopped rolling a lot when I was using it. I also found each time I charged it, it because less and less powerful. So I returned it for a refund and got this one. Ok, now on to the review of the Emjoi Micro-Pedi POWER - Callus Remover. If you did not try the Own Harmony 1st, you might not know or miss these features that I am going to be talking about. But since I did try the Own Harmony before I had this one, there are certain things that I did not like on this one. Pros I love, love, love that the Emjoi Micro-Pedi POWER - Callus Remover is actually Electric. This makes it pretty powerful. I have pretty tought calluses, so I need a powerful unit and this one seems to deliver. The power cord is pretty long, so for me, I can plug it in and still sit in my shower to use. If you dont have a plug in close to your bath or shower, you might have to use an extension cord. I think there will be some that will fall into this category, so I deducted 1 star because their cord is not longer. So I listed the cord as both a pro and con since it will depend on how far away your outlet is. Con Power cord is not long enough. Some people will probably wind up having to use an extension cord. Hard to clean If you have not used another unit like the Own Harmony, you might not know what you are missing. But, since I did use the Own Harmony 1st, I have to note this as a Con on this unit The Own Harmony is a breeze to clean. The roller has no protective cover, so it more exposed that one this unit. On this unit, the protective cover clogs up with skin that is being removed. This unit also has areas on it that skin gets into that are hard to get out of even with water or the brush they provide. The Own Harmony wins on clean up hands down!! Rollers Maybe it was because I was used to the rollers on the Own Harmony, but I liked them much better than on this model. They do not seem as rough and look to be not as durable, but the durability I wont be able to attest to for a while since I just got it. Also the way you remove the rollers is not near as easy as the Own Harmony. Protective Shied According to the manual, this protective shied is what goes over the roller and I guess is supposed to protect you. But for me, this protecting cover for the roller just gets in the way. Let me explain. With the Own Harmony, almost the entire roller is exposed, so I can use the device on any area of my foot with no problem. With the Emjoi Micro-Pedi, there is certain areas of my foot that are curved, like around the arches, that are very hard to use the device on because of this protective cover. So again, the Own harmony wins hands down. So in summary, for the Emjoi Micro-Pedi POWER I love love love that it is a true electric. But in every other category, the Own harmony is the winner. If only the Own harmony was electric instead of battery powered, it would be my hands down choice.

Safety vigilance is all you need for this great product.
I am a diabetic and my feet are in terrible shape. Dry, cracked and calloused. Before I begin, I would be remiss if I failed to mention that electric devices such as this are typically NOT recommended for diabetics. This is because if you are not super vigilant with caution, you can very easily cause yourself an abrasion. Cuts, abrasions or any type of injuries to a diabetic (especially in the feet or legs) are nightmares to heal and quite serious. So, if you are a diabetic and plan to use this product, you should be absolutely certain that you (or whoever is going to be using it on you) will not be in a hurry, take your time and don't rush. Basically, touch it to a spot once or twice and then FEEL with your finger or hand to make sure that you're not going too deep or causing any type of injury. Do this every time and every spot. If you're like me, you'll eventually want to go a little faster and cover more ground. However, I didn't because I know from past experiences what this can cause. With all that being said, I have used my Emjoi Micro-Pedi Callus Remover twice so far and I love it. I've used battery operated devices in the past and they just wasn't powerful enough. My rough, hard skin would stop the rotating action of the device. That is the safer way, of course but I could never really get anything accomplished. That is why I decided to go to an electric callus remover. Rough, hard skin is NOT going to stop the rotating action of this callus remover. That means it will eat right through the hard, callused skin and start into the fresh, alive skin and that will HURT. And, if you are a diabetic, it will cause you an abrasion that could take forever to heal. So, be vigilant! Provided my Emjoi continues to work well and last a decent amount of time (which time will tell), I am glad I bought this product and would definitely purchase it again.
