Spicewalla Golden Milk

I LOVE THIS SO MUCH! Without a doubt my favorite purchase of 2021 (I know we’re only two months in, but sadly I’ve purchased enough that my husband just rolls his eyes at the Amazon deliveries). Legitimately the first time I’ve ever been pleasantly surprised by the amount of product in the spice tin...spice companies are the new bags of chips, filling containers with mostly air, but this company filled the tin to the top. I now have to retrain myself so I don’t open the tin carelessly, which is such a nice problem to have. The tin is also cute enough that I keep putting in back on the counter even after my husband puts it into the cabinet among its ugly and clunky plastic brethren. I don’t know what magical proportions the Spicewalla people used, but this is somehow the perfect blend of sweet and earthy and spicy. I add a small amount to a saucepan of milk, whisk it, and am transported to a time when I frequented coffee shops for golden lattes. The impressive part is that this entire tin that will make like a thousand drinks costs the same as one and a half of the ones I used to drink. I’m embarrassed by my former flagrant disregard for spending $6.25 on a drink that takes thirty seconds to make myself, and I am grateful to Spicewalla for enabling me to be a financially responsible adult (in one category, but I’ll take what I can get). If you’re reading this, please buy this product. This is not a paid review, and I happily paid for the product and honestly would pay five times as much.

This product is well worth purchasing. The packaging design is not only attractive but it is practical. The smell is delightful. The taste is perfect. I enjoy my Golden Milk 1tsp to one cup of Oat milk. Then add honey to taste. It's a superb high quality product that my husband and I have enjoyed every evening after dinner. It tastes delicious and also has health benefits. Will buy again and again!

I had COVID in early November, and after "recovering" in 2 weeks, I've continued to have a mild cough and lots of drainage in my throat at night for 2 months. Looking for some relief, I tried fixing a cup of hot golden milk with this spice mix I'd previously purchased. The gentle spiciness combined with the warm liquid brought me a great deal of relief! It's now my nightly ritual to enjoy a warm cup of golden milk. The only drawback is the powder comes in a plastic bag inside the tin. I find the bag gets in the way and causes spills. So I always pour the powder out into the tin, which is a little messy. You have to pack it down to get it to fit! It's surprising how much this little tin holds! I've used about 1.5 tins over 10 weeks.

It’s a bit spicy because of the peppers in it but it’s a mild flavor like tea. I use it in hot water. Tumeric is supposed to prevent maybe even kill cancer not to mention a bunch of other things so I’d like to reap the health benefits. The big concern is most tumeric is sourced in India which is contaminated with lead but the owners have promised that they test all their products for metals in the Q&A and I have to have faith in them. The tin is much smaller than you would think but there is plenty to last me a long time. The tumeric was in a plastic bag but the bag was not sealed. I don’t know if that’s the way it’s supposed to come. Also, the ink on the label runs when it’s wet. Update: I found lint in my tumeric powder about a half an inch long. I hope it’s a piece of the tumeric root? Also, I brushed my teeth after drinking it and my toothbrush bristles turned yellow reminding me how much they stain teeth. So bummed as I was really enjoying it. It’s not the fault of the maker of the tumeric, I didn’t knock a star off because of it, I knocked a star off because of the lint.

I have heard so much about turmeric and its benefits that I decided to try it for myself. I did a ton of research and found that Spicewalla is known best for it's quality and flavor. I ordered the Spicewalla Golden Milk Powder. I have suffered from digestion issues and also bloating (an age thing I suppose). The packaging of this item is beautiful and you can tell great care was taken in mixing the spices. I heated up some vanilla almond milk and added a bit more than you are supposed to in order to give this a golden color. I mixed it with a whisk to avoid the clumps and added a touch of honey to sweeten it up. It has a touch of a kick but when you get used to it - it is amazing. It is spicey but delish! Two cups a day and this has absolutely changed my life. I even sleep better. The bloating in my stomach area has even diminished some. Amazing product - can't say enough good things - if you are on the fence about buying this product ... buy it!

The spice is delicious. However, I ordered a 3.6 ounce container and received only 2.9 ounces. I know it seems silly over .7 ounces but in the spice world that’s a significant difference.

So, keep in mind that I whisked about 1 tbsp over a low flame into 13.5oz unsweetened canned coconut milk and added in a touch of cinnamon. I did add blue agave for sweetness (am going to try molasses next time), and that finishing touch made it amazing. After whisking for a full 3 minutes, there were no clumps, lumps, or sediment left over (some have complained about this). So, like the title of this review states, if you make it good, it will be good. However, this is not something you just make like plain tea with hot water or simply to mix in really quickly like cocoa - there is a certain amount of effort involved while considering what flavors compliment the ingredients in the mix (I used coconut milk and cinnamon, but want to try almond milk with vanilla). The effort is totally worth it though.

Spicewalla has really great quality blends so I thought I'd try their golden milk blend. Very potent! I use it to add to steamed milk or tea lattes. I think it would also be a good addition to a homemade curry blend.
