The Bluetooth Shield integrates a Serial Bluetooth module. It can be easily used with Arduino for transparent wireless serial communication. You can choose two pins from Arduino D0 to D7 as Software Serial Ports to communicate with Bluetooth Shield (D0 and D1 is Hardware Serial Port). Definitely not plug and play.
I'm sure it's a good shield. Maybe I was expecting too much. I wanted something I could plug onto my UNO, upload firmware and communicate with it through my laptop Bluetooth. Not so. I couldn't find anything online that made it easy for me to operate. It looks like I have to be more Arduino code literate to make it do what I want it to do.

Could have a few more example sketches, I have only been able to link it once. Most likely operator/programmer error.

I purchased three of these for planned projects and have so far wasted an entire weekend trying to make any of them ...
There is a severe lack of documentation for how to use this product. I purchased three of these for planned projects and have so far wasted an entire weekend trying to make any of them work. If you are looking for a bluetooth shield, buy a different product.
