Nyko Charge Base - PlayStation 4

There isn't much to say about these. I love them. They work exactly as they should. It's a very basic idea, and it works really well. I love my PS4, but I'd like to know what dummy at Sony thought "Hey, let's have people plug in the controller via a tiny breakable port EVERY time they want to charge it." This product fixes that problem. It's simple. You just push the black plastic adapters onto your controllers. Then plug in the charging base and rest these on top. When the controllers are charging, a little icon lights up on the base. When they're charged, the icon shuts off. You can basically drop these on the base as you're running past it, and they will charge. I saw several reviews where people said it was difficult to get the controllers to sit correctly to charge. I have to assume those people either had a defective product or didn't put the adapters on right. Because my kids are 3 and 4, and they have put these on the charger correctly every single time, with next to no effort. The plastic adapters on the controllers don't affect game play at all. I don't even notice they're there. Bottom line: Great product. A simple solution to a problem that Sony should really be embarrassed about having created in the first place.

I really like this charging station just as I like Xbox One charging station. The reasons are because for 1) you get an easy way to store your controllers 2) it keeps them charged when your not using them 3) just drop and go! Those are the top three reasons. I wouldn't knock stars off this for how the controllers "don't fit" because they do fit. If your throwing your controllers on the charging station as you run out the door then No this will not work as planned but if you take care of your stuff and place it on the station then your fine. I was curious to see how they were going to place the charging pins for these controllers because of the ports being on top but I don't mind the dongle that connects to the top as it very fitted to the PS4 controller. Once they are connected to the controller they don't seem to wiggle or want to move which is a great thing. My only negative was that I was waiting for Amazon to ship me this product but after a month of waiting I finally decided to cancel my order and re-order the same product for a few dollars more from a different company. It arrived not even a week after I did that, but I'm not going to fault the product for that mishap. Great product and a definite recommend to those who are in the market.

Nyko Charge Base for PlayStation 4 is a game-changer! We got a PS4 for Christmas and 4 controllers. We bought this charger at a Black Friday sale and the Sony charger at another, and I ended up throwing the Sony charger out in favor of another one of these! The big advantage with the Nyko charger is that it has an attachment that fits into the controller's USB port that has charging contacts on the end. This enables you to simply set the controllers on the charger, then effortlessly lift off when you're ready to play again. The design is simple, elegant and brilliant. By contrast, the Sony charger not only makes you plug directly into the USB port (which is a relative hassle), but it has parts that pop out when you try to detach the controller and it took my kids about two weeks to lose one and make 1/2 the charger worthless. I digress. THIS is the charger you want for PS4 controllers. It's hands down the best design I've seen for ANY controller chargers!

Wasn't sure which charger I was going to buy, but I ended up getting the Nyko and I am COMPLETELY SATISFIED!!! It fits nicely on top of my PS4 and works perfectly. The box includes the charging station, wall adapter and two charge connectors in which you snap into the usb port if the controller. Note: these adapters are small and may be sitting in the bottom of the box incognito like so don't...I repeat DON'T, throw the box out until you locate them lol. Now snap in the adapters and viola...it doesn't get in the way of game play and when placed on the charger the display will light up showing you which controller (front or back icon will appear) is being used. The controller icon will disappear once fully charged. That simple and perfect. Happy gaming!!

scene - Sony R&D headquarters Sony Exec #1: "I have a great idea, let's make our new PS4 controllers rechargeable!" Sony Exec #2: "Yeah, yeah! And make it recharging them horribly inconvenient with a cable you have to insert just the right way and a port that will most likely someday fail!" Passing Janitor: "WTF?" Sony PS4 controllers are a hot mess. The ergonomics are good, but with the always on LED sapping away at your battery life and those f'ing microUSB ports - it's annoying. I came from an Xbox, which had controllers I never had to worry about. I could use my Xbox remote to control Netflix and never have to worry about my game controller unless I wanted to play a game. It didn't matter if I left it alone for 5 minutes for 5 weeks, when I needed it - it was there. Not so much with the PS4. No, PS4's don't have a dedicated remote and I always have to always worry about battery life. And since I have terrible family members that use a controller until it's dead and then leave it under the couch, I'm always struggling to use my PS4 now - not in half a hour when I finally get a slight glimpse of a charge. So this is like a gift straight from Heaven. The adapter is not as flush or secure as I'd like and sometimes you have to wiggle it a little on it's base to make sure it's charging, but it makes keeping my controllers running SO MUCH EASIER. I've been using it for two months without any problems. The base is relatively stable and the front lights up when the controller is charging, making it easy to see whether you've got it positioned just right. The thing hanging off my microUSB port doesn't interfere with gaming. Sony could have sold these alongside their PS4's. They could have charged twice as much as Nyko does and people would have bought them, because everyone loves wireless charging and nobody likes dead batteries. But they didn't. So if you want to ditch the USB cables, this is how you do it.

I had a Nyko Charge base for my Dual shock 3 Controllers so as soon as i saw they had a Charge base coming for the Dual Shock 4 I immediately ordered it. It is a Very Easy Set up dongles go on the back of the Dual shock 4 controllers and don't get in the way of your hands while playing at all. they are a slightly tight fit which i believed caused an issue that i will talk about shortly. They charge base is perfect size and charges the controllers quickly but shuts off when they are at full charge so it doesn't burn up the battery in the controller. has a light indicator on the front of the base that lights up when its charging the controller and turns off when the controller is fully charged. The only issue i have had with this product is the Dongles are such a tight fit i believe they caused a stress on the dongles and along the curve they have cracked and one of them broke open exposing the wires. I contacted Nyko about this issue just a few moments before writing this review and they have already responded thanking me for contacting them about the issue & will be forwarding it to the designers and will be sending me 2 new Dongles free of charge. UPDATE 7/12/15: after using this product for awhile & many frustrations I've come to update my review. This charger started out very well but in the last year has gotten to where it won't charge a controller completely... I have to constantly reposition the controller to get it to start charging & hope it continues charging after I walk away. So after dealing with these issues On a daily basis almost I have to drop my rating to 3 stars

I want to preface this by saying that I really like the design that Nyko was going for here with this charging base. I like the little clips, how they just sit easily inside the cradle, and I think the display is a really great idea. The only thing that probably would've been better from the intended design/function is if it actually had a charge meter on it so you could see HOW charged your controllers were. With that being said, why only 1 star? After about 4 months, the base station didn't work right anymore. I'd set a controller in there, and it would flash the little controller icon on the display so you could see it was charging. After 10-25 seconds or so, it would simply stop charging. The icon would disappear. I tried and tried to troubleshoot this, and couldn't find any reason for it. My controllers charge and work just fine through USB. I work in a lab with a CT machine, and I actually did a CT scan on the little USB adapters for this base station to see if maybe there was something broken in there, but everything looked intact. Just... For whatever reason, the base station does not want to charge anything for more than 10-15 seconds. Very disappointing, especially from a company like Nyko (I'd long used their batteries and chargers for RC cars and stuff without any issues). If these had not broken as they did, this product would easily have been 5 stars- I absolutely loved it when it worked. I've been using a powered USB hub as a charger in the mean time, with no issues.
