Indespensable handbook for the critical care practitioner.
This is my second copy. I wore out the first one. It's a good reference book for critical care and general acute care nursing. It's organized by systems and has a great index with cross-referencing that makes it easy to find the info you need in a pinch. The drug ref section contains a drug compatibility chart. It's comprehensive. I'm hoping for a new, updated addition.

An excellent resource
I am 8 months into my nursing career, and starting out as an ICU nurse has been challenging. I glanced through this book when one of my coworkers left hers floating around the unit and I knew I had to have my own copy. I love it! It is an excellent resource. I bring all sorts of papers and reference material with me to work at various times, but I *always* have this book, because it is small but packed with helpful information. I have started writing additional notes in it so it will eventually be the only thing I have to keep with me. It has been invaluable to me, and I find myself wishing I had the time and mental energy to sit down and read it all the way through; I know I'd learn a lot!Update: I've still use this book for reference and I've been an ICU nurse for almost 3 years. I have been off work for six months due to pregnancy and maternity leave, and when I go back to work next week I can guarantee I will be referring to this book to refresh my memory of things.

Very useful.
Old ER nurse here who just transferred to ICU after working 20 yrs in the ED. I thought I knew a lot but am finding out that I don't know anything lol. This book is a great little gem to give me a quick refresher on conditions not seen too often in the ED (ARDS, for instance). The only complaint is that the print is very small, but if it were bigger the book wouldn't fit in my hadbag, so it's a small complaint.

Excellent book!
I work in the field of respiratory care. For the last 34 years I have had the opportunity to work in many critical care settings, such as adult, neonatal and pediatric intensive care units. As a Respiratory Therapist, cardiac and hemodynamics are high on the list of our expertise. I recommend this book to any medical professional who needs a good review, and even to learn from.

Definitely not a book you sit down to read cover ...
Definitely not a book you sit down to read cover to cover. It is a reference book that goes into enough detail to cover the point. Worth keeping in your bag for the reference it is.

I bought this as a nursing student during my senior preceptorship in the ICU. My preceptor was highly impressed with this book and it was a huge help to me as a reference. I am now a new grad working in the ICU and I still keep it with me every day at work.

My everything ICU book!
This has become my go to reference guide for work. I work in the Medical/Surgical/Transplant ICU, and every question I have had so far, is in this book. It's small enough to carry around, but full of information. I cannot say enough good things about this book!!!

Awseome pocket guide!
I started carrying this book after I noticed a ICU nurse had this in her pocket. I currently work on a med-surg floor and I would recommend this book to anyone especially nurses just staring out like myself. This is a great reference to have handy.
