I needed to braze a small hole closed in the corner of a steel Jerry can. I first tried using MAPP gas with my old Bernzomatic propane torch. As expected, it was a no-go. The flame was weak & not hot enough to melt the bronze brazing rod. Received the Turbo Torch STK-9 this afternoon, screwed it onto the MAPP gas cylinder, got used to adjusting the valve, and went to work. The owner's manual has some nice pictures inside showing the user how to adjust the gas flow to get a nice hot flame. As a total newbie with brazing (first time!), this torch made it pretty easy. It pumped out the heat, getting the steel sheet metal nice & red hot. The brazing rod flux & bronze core melted nicely, flowing into the pinholes. This torch practically screams QUALITY, compared to the much less expensive Bernzomatic torch I've used for years. It's heavy, but nicely finished. Glad I bought it!

Bought for plumbing copper pipe. Works great! As a general contractor that does not use one very often I have bought a few cheeper torches that did not last. You get what you pay for and this torch is quality you can feel right out of the box. But we shall see...

I have used this tip for 8 years. It had recently started to stop turning off the valve just by twisting it in the off position. The valve body had ended up going like Alot of others have over time. I finally ended up buying another tip and trust me when I say, I will never go to any other brand or type of torch tip after using this. It is very reliable and I will continue to buy another in about ten years.

Unlike the inexpensive pencil-flame torches that are sold in many locations, this torch produces an even-heating, spread-out flame that is preferred by professionals I've spoken with in the HVAC and plumbing fields. It's pricing is a little below the mid-range for these types of torches, but I have found it to be very well made with heavier components than many of torches that target the homeowner. The flame, when properly adusted, leaves the metal tip of the torch relatively cool and simply excels at heating copper fittings for solder. Since the heat distribution is more even, you can expect better solder flow even with solders that have slightly higher melting points. Do expect a bit of noise when the torch is properly adjusted; if that is an irritation, even low-grade ear plugs or muffs would suffice.

Awesome torch, everyone I know that uses them have had the torch for 3+ years. 100% heat control when soldering copper the swivel tip is a great and very useful feature. Just keep the internal clean and they last forever.

Easy to use. Torch head can be turned in many angles and still work fine. Bought this same torch thirty five years ago to plumb my house with. Decided to buy a new for the next thirty five years.
