Most comfortable shoe I've ever worn, once you get the straps adjusted
I first bought these Genesis shoes back in 2020. They were very comfortable, but I could never get the strap around the back of the heals adjusted correctly so that they would stay in place. They kept sliding down off of the heal which leaves nothing to keep the shoes on your feet. I gave up and didn't wear them for a couple of years. In 2022, I found a video on the Xero shoes website on how to properly adjust the straps. I decided to give them another try. With a bit of trial and error, I was finally able to get the heal straps to stay in place. Once they were adjusted correctly, I found that they were the most comfortable shoe I'd ever worn. I wear them everywhere. The soles are thin, which is a big part of their appeal. They're extremely comfortable on flat or soft surfaces. Walking around a store, on pavement or in the dirt or grass is almost like being barefoot, only better. The pavement gets HOT where I live and these things do a great job of protecting my feet from the heat. Most of the time, I barely know they're on my feet. The thin soles aren't so great when walking on gravel, stone or other rough or jagged surfaces. If I know I'll be walking on those types of surfaces, I'll wear my Xero Z-Trek IIs which have a thicker sole and provide more protection. After about a year of wearing the Genesis' full time, the rubber tag on the back of both heals came unglued which allowed the thread holding the ends of the straps together to come apart. Sad, but they lived a productive life. For a while, I promoted the Z-Trek IIs to my full time shoe. They're good, comfortable shoes, in their own right, and I wouldn't want to be without them, but they can't compare to the barefoot feel of the Genesis. I wanted my Genesis back so I bought another pair. Armed with the knowledge this time of how to adjust the straps, I was able to get them adjusted for my feet in no time. My feet are happy again. I would like the shoes to last for more than a year, but if I need to spend $40-$50 a year on new pairs, I can live with that.

Yes... get them!
I fell in love with these immediately and was a bit bummed I didn’t purchase them sooner. I avoided them due to a heavy ad campaign on Facebook which makes me feel like the product is a gimmick. All the video testimonials and reviewes seemed a bit formulaic and repetitive. Now I know why! The Genesis shoes are absolutely amazing and are actually underpriced in my opinion. They deliver exactly as advertised. I wear a 13.5 wide shoe which puts me in a 14 normally. I measured my foot using their chart from the Xero Shoe website and discovered I was a 12W in the Genesis and I think that is why some people have a bad experience. I would have ordered a normal 13w or 14w and would have thought the shoe sucked. Make sure to get the proper size! I have a wide foot and my feet actually hang over the edge of the shoe a slight bit, as you can see in the picture, but I can’t tell. I can’t feel the edge at all. It feels like my entire foot is covered even when walking over rocks. This isn’t the only voodoo this shoe performs. The Genesis sandals stick to your foot in some weird gravity defying way. Other than people purchasing the wrong size I think a failure to properly adjust the straps is the other reason for some to have a bad experience with the Genesis. I initially cinched them up tight thinking that is the only way to keep them on. I experienced a lot of discomfort between my toes, which is odd because I wear flip flops 95 percent of the time. I loosened them back up to about the factory default and they were too loose. The heel would slid down and/or the toe would fold over and drag. So I tweaked with it for about 30 mins and they are absolutely perfect. They stay floating on my foot at all times and I can barely feel them between my toes. A couple of the concerns was how they would perform when wet and on slopes. I walked around in the pool and they performed great When walking at a slow pace as a water shoe. When I exited the water they drained very quickly and were not slippery. They did not retain water or feel soggy. On slopes whey actually performed fairly well. I found using your bare foot as gauge to be fairly accurate. If your bare foot would stay firm on the terrain then it will stay firm on the shoe. If your bare foot would slip in the terrain then your foot will slip in the sandal. Hopefully that makes sense. These are my new daily shoe for all activities!

Solid minimalist running sandal, but one broke after a year
Been using these to run for a few weeks, as my physical therapist recommended I go barefoot on a wide variety of natural surfaces and rocks, to strengthen my feet and recover from my injury. Felt great but I was a little afraid of glass so I tried these for a bit of cut protection. They definitely require easing into use, they'll give blisters if you go to hard to quick, and the lace in between the toes can hurt at first, but after a while they become more comfortable. CONS: For my forefoot running style is that the backs slap loudly on the pavement when I run. Also little pebbles can get in easily when I just walk, but you can shake them out if they bother you. (There are also these little plastic adjustment tabs on the sides that flop around if you pull them snug, and hurt when you step on them so I just tuck them in between the double laces they hang next to and they stay flush against my foot and that fully solves the issue). Update: I've had this pair for one year, averaging maybe a few miles a week. The back of one just broke. The rubber piece on my heel ripped away from the black rope it was sewn to completely. I have fixed it in the short term by superglueing it back together, but not sure how long that will last. A little disappointed, was hoping these would last 2 or 3 years at least.

Wore these now for a few days and absolutely love them. I’m a big Teva fan but thee have converted me. The slim and minimalist profile is really functional and amazing. And on top of it in the dark at the hotel I slipped my feet in and had no idea they can be comfortable flip flops as well. I’m sure others figured it out but I was totally ignorant and it was by accident. This takes it to the next level now I can use them as quick slip ones in the hotel or airport going through security! Big fan now!
