Best in this price category, compared side by side to others
I bought four binos all highly regarded as top notch for the PRICE POINT OF $300 This Athlon Midas The Nikon Monarch 5 The Maven C1 The Meopta Optika All “HD” or “UHD” glass Al with ED glass All 10x42, except for Monarch, 12x42 I also already own the Maven C3 12x50 ($450) Though the Monarch and C1 did very well, they were edged out for #1 by the Meopta. Day time clarity was excellent. Time-to-focus is best i’ve ever tried. God eye relief. Eye box was not picky at all, #1 in the group. Although i dont have a scale on hand, it was clearly the heaviest of the four though advertised as being mid-pack. Its low light capabilities is were it really shines. It was the brightest by far the best of the five in low light situations. In fact, though the Monarchs and C3s are 12x, the Meoptas could pick out details and colors better in low light. Ergonomics were very good. The Monarch and the Mavens were second in sharpness during daytime to the Meopta. The Athlons could not compete with any of the other four in opticals qualities in any way. Athlons only good property are ergonomics. I returned the Monarch (and the Midas and Maven C1) and ended up keeping the Optika as it was the clear winner in all categories except weight. My first experience with the Meopta brand and i have to say im sold on the brand so far.

Too many slip ups even though they are low priced.
Let me set the record straight. I’m a big Meopta Fan. Been running their rifle scopes for years. And their upper line scopes can yield some serious competition to the some big name optics. Here’s my take on the Optika HD 8x42 binoculars. There is some serious internal reflection/ halo effect. Just can’t deal with that. As far as the quality of the glass; it’s not where I want to be. Not even close. Not as sharp in the center as I want. Edges definitely fall off considerably. But you have to keep in mind they are low priced binoculars. And with that being said there are manufacturers making better and better products these days for less money. Nikon Monarch 7’s cost a little more but are a definite step up optically. I sure am not buying into someone saying Meopta Optika HD binoculars are Leica or near Alpha. To a great extent you just can’t beat the system. For real quality optics you just about forced into coughing up some more money.

Optika
They are light enough to handle with one hand. Great for those with glasses.

Good binos
I have several Meopta rifle scope and consider them comparable to some of the other high end European brands. So when these came out I was super excited, as the price point seemed fantastic for a quality pair of binos. Fundamentally they are good binos, solid construction and work as advertised. I had an issue with the first pair so I contacted customer service and they sent a replacement within a week. Price is fair for what you get with these.
