I purchased this product because I am moving my two cats from indoor/outdoor cats to strictly outdoor cats. I am going to set up their "new" space in our garage. I wanted something to make sure they were fed at same time every day without having to walk out to the garage twice a day due to health reasons. It has power cord but also can be battery operated. I tried both to make sure it worked. I have initially set it up in their current eating spot so the cats can get used to it prior to putting it in their new space. It was easy to set up and the cats love it! It allows for 4 meals a day and portion control. If I let them they would eat all day! It also has a microphone so you can add your own personal touch to it and allow your pet to hear your voice. It's been great!! My cats typically stay down in the basement but when 5:30 rolls around and you hear the feeder "voice" call them to breakfast or dinner, they come running!! I've only had it a few days but don't know why I didn't purchase it sooner!! I have multiple pets and this helps me to ensure everyone is being fed at the same time every day. Would definitely recommend!

I bought this feeder mainly for my dog. It is a breeze to fill. Just pinch the tab on the lid and the whole thing comes off. Fill it with your food. I use nature’s domain from Costco and work fine with the small size adapter. Yes there are two different size adapters that come with the device. Depending on the size of the food, you will have to change out the adapter. You do so by removing the top food storage housing. On the bottom of this you have to remove the screws to swap the adapter. Programming is pretty straight forward. Just set the times for each meal time slot. Set the current time. Also make sure to use batteries in the event the power goes out.

This is well made and works well. I was torn between giving 4 and 5 stars, because the only problems I have with it are a matter of personal preference. I bought this because my cat is very good at scamming people into thinking no-one's remembered to feed him, and this is to keep him from blowing up to the size of a small pony. However, to get the smallest portion size, you need to unscrew some inside hardware and replace it with the smaller insert. Seven screws. Tiny screws. Ugh. I wouldn't have bought it in the first place if I'd known that would be necessary, so that was a negative. Another negative is that the meal sizes are in "units", which are supposedly so many grams. I tried to look up grams to cups, but yeah, that's not really possible. So, I had to measure what one unit kicked out but that didn't work out well. Since then I've been adjusting it to try to get the right amount at each meal. Since I have found I really don't like the programming interface that has also been an annoyance. It reminds me of programming an old clock radio - if you miss your stopping point, you have to go through the whole series again. And you have to hold down two buttons at the same time to change anything. I guess that's to keep a pet from changing anything by accident? But the buttons are stiff enough to press that I have a hard time thinking my cat could change anything, even if he was trying. Even if he was much bigger and had opposable thumbs. But, as I said, all this is a matter of personal preference. I'm pleased with how well it's made, and how sturdy it is. My cat can't shove it around the floor which he liked to do with his old dish. There is also a blue plastic coil, very stiff plastic, that wraps around the charging cord to protect it. I also like that. It is also very, very easy to put together if you don't want to change to a smaller dispensing insert. I wouldn't buy it again, but I'm fine keeping it and I think it will last us quite a while without taking much attention besides regular cleaning and filling, once I've gotten the meal size figured out. On the funny side, the cat is still getting used to it. Every time it dispenses food he bolts off to the other side of the room and then approaches it with great caution. It isn't keeping him from eating, though (in fact, he eats everything, then still tries to convince everyone that no-one has fed the poor cat, who is wasting away to nothing, absolutely nothing, won't someone feed the poor cat before he dies of starvation?)

I am thrilled with this feeder. It was easy to set up and I like the fact that I can put batteries in it incase of a power outage and I am not home. I ordered the feeder to help get my 2 hefty cats weight under control, up until I purchased the feeder my cats had hot and cold running food on tap and when I tried limiting their food they would become panicked and gorge themselves. With the timer I can set up feedings 4 times a day at times I set and I can also control the amount dispensed at each feeding. Which leads me to the only thing I found problematic with the feeder is you can set up each feedings to dispense between 1-39 portions per feeding what I can't find is how much 1 portion equals as far cup or grams go. So at the moment I am playing with the portion size at each feeding to make sure my cats are getting enough food but not over feeding them in the process. I also like I can record my voice to play when each meal is dispensed and that I can attach a camera to the feeder, both features are nice for when I am out of town. This feeder is really a great value at a good price.

We have a smaller 20 lb dog and were looking to find a way to automatically feed her if we aren't here during the day. We have had this feeder for a little over a week and it is great! You can record your voice and it will play it back when it dispenses food. The instructions are easier than our coffee maker to understand. One suggestion - test out how big of a portion size you want it to dispense. We plugged it into a wall, which I recommend. Also - hide the cord. We found for a 20 lb dog we needed a portion size of 4, but we needed to measure what came out to be sure. A portion size of 1 is very tiny, but it dispenses quite a bit at the max. It also has an option to do a fourth meal, and you can program any time you want any of them to dispense. I highly recommend this feeder!
