When we first downloaded this CD to our MP3 player from our laptop with Windows 7, the playback had a loud raspy sound over the music. We thought the CD was defective as the disc holder arrived broken in transit. However, we played the CD in our home theater CD player and the music sounded just fine. We made a final attempt to download to our MP3 player using an older laptop with Vista and the playback sounded just fine. We'd recommend using older software versions if you're looking to download to your MP3 player. We love Tracy Chapman and would recommend her music.

This is a wonderful collection of songs from various albums Tracy has done over the years. I love every track and wish more could have been added. Tracy is such a deep, authentic "real" artist. Her passion and talent is present in every word song. She is a powerhouse and deserves far more credit than she has received. This seller is over seas, so be prepared to wait for your CD. Their prices are great.

I love me some Tracy Chapman. She has some really good heartfelt music. I have been listening to her since she came out in like 1987 or so. She is just so great and very talented.

I had always loved her music and wanted to buy a GH cd. I am glad I did. Some singer's songs can be too moody so as to be depressing, but Tracy Chapman knows how to move you without immersing herself into the depths of despair. I love her delivery, her swing, her feel for words. This is a great introduction to a great artist, if you didn't want to buy all her CDs. Please invest your time in discovering Tracy Chapman, if you've heard of this talented singer-songwriter!

I knew Fast Car from years ago, but never really heard much else from Tracy until I listened to a friends CD. I loved what I heard. Not knowing which one of her CD's to buy, I figured this Collection would be the best start. And I am not disappointed at all. This is perfection. Her words are so insightful and music so together. This is just perfect for anyone who isn't all that familiar with her work as well as those who have all her CD's.

Tutto perfetto CD come nuovo

Ever since I first heard her eponymous debut album, I've been in love with Tracy Chapman's work. Her unique vocals manage to sound fragile but warm, positive, hopeful, heartwarming and strong at the same time. It is a voice that draws you in to an extent that I've never experienced before or since: you forget that the world outside of your room exists while listening to her music and it feels like she's in the room performing just for you. But of course every great voice also needs great songs to perform and Tracy Chapman has these in abundance too. Her talents as a songwriter match her outstanding voice; she's a fantastic storyteller on the more personal songs and an equally good social commentator on the politically centred songs, be it the (at the time) changing situation in South Africa or life in the ghettos of the US. When she's singing unaccompanied, it's a spine tingling experience; but the other tracks are just as good, with the clever, sparse use of a huge variety of instruments only adding to the atmosphere she creates. Every track on this collection is excellent and worthy of 5 stars by itself, making this CD an essential purchase. However, that's only part of the story: almost every track on every one of her albums is of the same astonishingly high standard and you really should own them all.
