I self-installed the Toto Urinal in my workshop/barn. Surprising to me the installation was flawless albeit extra trips to the hardware store for water/drain parts I did not forsee. Had I thought it through I would not have purchased the Back Spud for my particular installation. The product arrived safely. The UPS driver was relieved there was no sound of breakage coming from the box.

the urinal is sleek and cool but you must have access to the back of the urinal to hook it up, no matter what flush valve you get. If you get the larger face plate for the flush valve you van change battery and turn the shut off however you cannot tighten the fitting to the unit. I had to buy the top spud and buy parts from sloan to even make that work, acctually toto told me to go to sloan. In a nutshell without access to back of unit this urinal wont meet your needs with access it looks cool and sleek

Purchased for its no frills clean design and it lives up to it. Just as a note, to install confidently you must have rear access to all plumbing connections.

So here's the thing. We did a complete gut-rehab of our house, and my husband said he really wanted a urinal. So I'm thinking, really? I didn't want something that looked like a middle-school boys bathroom in our guest bath/lavette. After looking online at TONS of photos, we agreed that the Toto was the best looking without being too far off the deep end in design (search "venus fly trap urinal" and you'll see what I mean). This has been one of the BEST things we've added to our home. My husband loves it. Our male house guests look at their female partners with longing in their eyes. Even my 24 year old son, who is really conservative, finally agreed that this was a good idea. It uses much less water than a toilet, so is good on water cost/sewer charges and overall sustainability issues. It reduces use of the toilets, so these stay cleaner/require fewer cleanings. The toilet seat stays down, so now it's only the dog drool that leaves wet spots on the toilet seat. We got the one that is rear-spud, which reduced the commercial look of the unit. But Toto only sells hands-free wall flush valves, which require a power source. I wanted to be sure this could be used of the power goes out, so we ordered a manual flush valve. Oddly, the only one we could find is specified for prison use. But it looks fine.
