I've been seeing a lot of reviews about how 2-3 of their pens were "damaged" because they arrived bent-- this is not true! Well, the fact they were supposedly damaged is not true, because the bending is intentional! This style of a bent nib is known as a "fude nib", in which "fude" means "bent" in Japanese. I posted a small snippet of a blog on Goldspot.com, but essentially these nibs are supposed to create lines that are pretty close to a brush stroke-- this is especially popular for writing kanji or traditional Chinese characters. Again: THEY ARE NOT BROKEN!! They are bent intentionally! (As an aside, my pens came in and they write wonderfully. I can't wait to use them with my inks to make lineart.)

I like the product and all, but it would be really appreciated if they didn’t say that it would include 10 nibs, because I received only 8. I mean it also showed only 8 in one of the pictures too...

The holders are perfectly functional and at least one of the nibs seem to work fine once prepped properly. However the nibs were pushed too far into the holders making them difficult to remove. This meant I could not used my preferred method of boiling the nibs to remove the factory coating. I had to struggle removing the coating using other methods while the nib was still in the holder. At some point two of the nibs got damaged during this process. I removed the damaged nibs with a pair of pliers. I recommend purchasing separate back up nips, in case the removal or prep damages the nibs.

I am a semi professional artist and I used to work in pen and ink frequently. When I was in trade school, we talked a bout a pen holder that would accommodate both the crow quill style and the broader leaf style nibs. Of course 20 years ago, there was no such thing, that any of us knew of. So, when I saw these I had to get some. I ordered the reddish-orange set and they feel great. Slightly rubberized grip, lightweight. Super stylish color. I do really like using them. The only pitfall is that I have some Zebra Comic Pen Nibs - G Model that do not fit snuggly into the holder, they in fact, almost fall out. Which is disappointing. That said, it's the only nib that I have that does not fit as it should into these pen holders and those nibs fit fine into other holders I have. So, it is far from any sort of deal breaker. Overall, these are great.

I've been buying the pens sold at the craft store including speedball. I'm so surprised how quickly the standard pens break down. I've had the handle of one shatter and the brads that hold the tips bend or break. These pens are awesome! For the same cost as one of the craft store pens, I got this whole set. I don't need to change tips and the handles are not degrading. I love the way they hold ink as we. They are superior but at a budget price.

This is my first set of comic dip pens. I plan to use them to ink my drawings. I have tested all of the pens in this set, and I am quite happy with them. The ink flows very nicely. No issues getting them started. I have a cheap set of calligraphy dip pens and I have to scratch them back and forth on the paper to get them started writing. Not these. They mark from the very first contact with the paper. They hold a fair amount of ink in the reservoir. I was surprised at how much I can do with 1 dip. They do not blob up like my other cheap set. No messy ink blotches and drips. I highly recommend these pens for anyone who wants to get into dip pens, for drawing or calligraphy. The holders are nice as well. They are light weight, and feel great in my hand. The wood is much nicer than the plastic holder I had. Only 1 thing I'm not sure about. I'm not sure if the D nib is supposed to be bent at the tip like in the pic. Both D nibs are bent like that, and they still seem to work, though the line is quite bold. That may be normal, this is my first experience with a D pen, so I'm not sure. But regardless, even if those nibs are defective, the other nibs are not, and they are a lot of fun to draw and ink with. Would buy again without a doubt.

Very happy with the purchase. The pen holders have a nice feel and size. And they look nice. The selection and quality of the nibs is great. I have since also bought a Hunt pen holder with the universally acclaimed 102 crow quill nib but so far, I actually prefer the crow quill in this set. But all the nibs have good flexibility vs sturdiness and have good flow.
