Pleasantly Surprised
Update - I still love this pen! It is still my favorite to use, and I write with it daily. I have a leather case that I always carry it in. While it is my favorite, the clip has broken off and the lid does not fit as well as when I first received it. It does have a few minor blemishes from the daily use, but it is such a pleasure to use, I can't complain.I have used fountain pens for many years, and after having lost a favorite and not being able to find a like one to replace it, I have gone through several to find something comparable. I'll be honest, I've passed by this one many times because it was made in China (who knows, maybe they all are!), but I finally decided to try it. The price was unbelievable good - and when I received it yesterday afternoon, I was more than pleased. It feels right. It is lovely! I don't believe it is actually made of mother-of-pearl, but it does have that look. The gold appointments do not feel gaudy at all, but rather elegant. The nib is beautiful! I cannot stop looking at it! I have written all day with it, and all last evening - I'm making up things that need to be written! It has the smoothest carriage - it is delightful to write with! A friend tried it today, having not written with a fountain pen before, and was amazed at how lovely the feeling was as he wrote. This pen is substantial - not heavy enough to fatigue, but weighty enough to feel comfortable. It is perfectly balanced. It is like a piece of art. Or jewelry - I want to show it off, but it shows itself off, by being so simply elegant. I've had several people ask to see it - and I've had it just 24 hours! I'm more than pleased. The converter I received with the pen does not work. I'm not terribly concerned with that, as I have another that I am using in it. To me, that does not take away from the quality, and I would not be surprised to find that this is a one-off thing, and that most of them work without an issue.

It's a great pen, very beautiful and writes fairly well
It's a great pen, very beautiful and writes fairly well. I use it with ink cartridges. I'm giving it 3 stars because it's not what I thought I was buying. I couldn't tell from the description that the tip is actually rounded to it writes like a ball-point pen. So I can't use the thick and thin lines for calligraphy. But I will use it as a normal pen as it is fine for that.

Bejeweled Dragon bomb-diggity Beastly Beauty!
Showstopper !!!I gifted this to my College-aged Daughter; Love at first sight & feel! We both are intermediate fountain pen (FP) writers, with some basic familiarity of FP styles, attributes, etc. from both research and actual prior purchases & long-term usage of various pen brands & styles... This review therefore provides our opinions as intermediate level FP users, based upon several dozens of prior affordable to moderately priced FP purchases & actual day to day / real-life use (from disposable FP's, to demonstrators, to fancy pens, ranging from a few dollars to ~$40/each). Our chosen brands of Inks thus far are Noodler's and Chesterfield's. FP brands have included Pilot, Nemosine, Noodler's Flex Creaper, Lamy, Bulow, & now this JinHao- YAY !!!This MOP / Golden Dragon Eyes FP is breathtakingly gorgeous! Rock-God elegance. I was concerned that the "Medium" Nib might write too thick of a line, but no, it's a perfectly definite, distinctive, intentional written line width (vs. delicate or barely-there of an extra-fine nib)- It's just right, and lays down ink smoooooth ! Fills easily, writes immediately- And- This is a big deal- The cap stays sealed on the top when not in use, and also posts sturdily to the back when in use. (My Bulow pens, while pretty, don't close/latch nor post securely- A constant hassle). This JinHau is divine! I want one for myself now, too. Downside - No way to minimize the reality that this is a heavyweight and large-diameter FP. (We haven't used it for prolonged writing yet.) It is uniquely weighted, and yields a comfort of days-past, to hold & write with. Constant conversation piece- Visually stunning to behold! STEAL of a DEAL !!!

Love the Design and Heft of the Pen
like the design but haven't written with it yet due to finding the cartridges. I know is has a reservoir but those can get messy and taking a while to get the cartridges in from the same company that makes the pen.Got the cartridges in and trying to keep a steady flow of ink, especially if you don't write with it "very" often you have to get it started. Not the best design for the cartridge and they came from the same company that makes the pen.

Beautiful pen
Hefty pen. But, it doesn't write without the nib being "primed" with water.

Fine quality pen!
This is a nice fountain pen, on par with a Waterman or Pelican, and loads above Scheaffer. The nib is very smooth, so much so that I don't find the distinctive ?feathering that I normally have with fountain pens, it feels almost more like a gel rollerball it is so smooth.I am definitely a fan of the converter pens, that is my preference, this one seems fine, no leaking, loads smoothly, and I can use all my favorite inks in it.As opposed to the other pens from companies that I can't afford this "look" of pen, everyone thinks it looks "very fancy" -- the quality is high, someone asked (jokingly, I think) if it was made of Mithril.. The snap cap has been nice so far, saving those extra seconds before writing, and even carrying it in my pocket it hasn't fallen off.And you can't beat the price! And the shipping was really quite fast.I love the little rubies in the dragon clip eyes -- a little over the top, but then, who says you have to be queen to wear a tiara? If I were still in a writing heavy environment, I think this would be my daily, go-to writer, based on performance. Based on looks, clearly a signature pen, it comes of as elegant with a flash of panache, not gaudy.Overall, I am very satisfied.
