It fit my GPS
I have a 10 year old garmin gps that rides on my dash. This item fit my gps but I think it was so old and the adhesive on the device was so old that I ended up having to use a large screwdriver rather than the plastic pry tool included with the battery. My garmin, from the time I bought it (has a about a 6 or 7" screen) has always given a shutdown warning when you disconnect the 12v cigarette lighter plug from your vehicle or when you kill the vehicle, and with the new battery it is no different. So in reality, don't even know if it would've ever worked without the cord anyway. So what was the point of replacing the battery? Hell if I know, I'm a man, and it was a "man thing to do", even if it cost $30

Take your time and DON'T RUSH!
Maybe I should have found someone who has a little experience with this kind of replacement. I do a lot of work in house construction, car repair, motorcycle performance mods, electronics, 3D printing... in other words I think I have good mechanical aptitude and knowledge. But I screwed this up. Be careful. Watch the installation video. Take your time! I watched the video right after I ordered. About a week or so went by before I received the battery and found time for the replacement. The video makes the installation look pretty straightforward. So, even though it had been several days since I watched the video instructions, I thought "I've got this." Took the screws out, pried the case open very carefully. Peeked inside to see on which side the ribbon cable sits... made sure to open the opposite side. Slowly opened the case... and tore the ribbon cable. It's way more delicate than I realized. And the part of that ribbon cable attached to the front side (display side) needs to be pulled away to prevent the ribbon cable from flexing too much. I didn't remember that from the video. It sucks. I want to be angry with this NewPower99 for not emphasizing the ribbon cable enough. I want to be angry with Garmin for building a unit that is that touchy to service (could this be part of why they consider it unserviceable)? But I can really only be angry with myself for plowing ahead with the repair before watching the video again. If you buy this, watch the video a couple of times; especially just before you do the job. Pay special attention to they way the move the ribbon cable away from the front side. Pay special attention to position of the battery connector and how they snap it back in. BE CAREFUL.

Garmin GPS
Had a problem getting my unit to charge after sitting idle for awhile, after installation of new battery it works perfectly! Would advise anyone who replaces the original battery that removing that battery takes a bit of patience due to the fact that the glue holding it in place is extremely adhesive.

Seems all these batteys come from same source
As you search for this replacement battery, across the internet you will find the same picture of the battery, this product only revealed that it was also the same battery when I opened the package. on the battery there will be no date on the battery, all Ni-cad batteries have a shelf life, the only way you can be confident that it is worth installing is to no the production date. so why no production date when it was on every one of the original batteries? the original battery was a Li-con type battery Lithium, I puzzle if this is why the Ni-con meaning Nickel–cadmium battery is not being charged correctly. This article says: Nickel- and lithium-based batteries require different charge algorithms. A NiMH charger can also charge NiCd; a NiCd charger would overcharge NiMH. Do not leave a nickel-based battery in the charger for more than a few days. I have installed 4 of these so called replacement batteries and the only one that worked properly was a battery that looked exactly like the original battery ninus the Garmin brand and was a Li-Con meaning Lithium type battery. All of the Ni-con batteries failed right away or after a couple of two hour charges. I terurned this one, had no trouble with that but it was a waest of time and labor, I hope yor experience is better then mine.

Warning!! Internal components are very delicate. There is a good chance that things will go wrong.
Tried to install this battery into my Garmin 3797 LMT unit since the original battery was failing. I had a difficult time reattaching the new battery connector back on to the motherboard. No instructions given here. After reassembling the unit, the touch screen function did not work. Opened unit again and inspected all connections and could not find any problems. Reassembled unit and now it was dead. Suspected the attachment of the lcd connector (67 pins) to the cabling. Disconnected the same and tried to reattach the flat cable back into the connector and upon trying to lock the cable down by pushing on the plastic lock, it broke. End of my GPS unit and out $40 for the battery. Moral of story........working on unit may not be for everyone, even those with prior experience with electronic gadgets.
