Review: Typical Plot but Amazing Nonetheless! - I read Wait For You during one of those book reading binge weeks where you go through one after the other and are up until 3 am finishing off a story, reading at any free minute you can have. I go through these times often, and I always find that a downside can be that a book that may regularly have been quite good on a regular week, becomes less impressive as its started the minute after you finish a different book, many of them blending together or being forgotten the moment its done. Yet I also find in these book reading binge weeks, I gain even more appreciation for the book or two that really stands out, the one that I am still thinking about as I move onto the next book. Wait For You definitely fell into the latter category. J.Lynn does an amazing job with this one, and the story of Avery Morgansten got the first five star rating I have given out in the last dozens of books I’ve read. It takes a lot for me to take the jump from giving a book I enjoyed a 4 star rating to giving it a 5 star one. I don’t take my five star ratings lightly, I just feel like they need to be saved for the few books that managed to illicit every reaction under the sun from me. Wait For You does that, and I can’t wait for some time to pass so I can read it all over again. So, stop reading my rambling and go read this awesome story, now, please :) Wait For You tells the story of Avery Morgansten, a former popular, still filthy rich girl from Texas who is ready to start over again at university in West Virginia. A new beginning is exactly what she needs-one far away from her unsupportive family and cruel classmates, one where she can try and move past the horrible night she endured five years ago that has defined her ever since. She knows she should make new friends, and she is quickly able to find them in the loud and ridiculous, Jacob and the spunky, loyal, Britt. Yet a hot new guy to swoon over? That was never part of her plan. But Cam, the campus hottie, is a hard one to ignore, especially when he lives across the hall. Is it as cliche as it sounds? For the most part, yes. But its predictability and commonplace plot did not at all take away from it being captivating and emotional. The thing that I loved most about their story is that while there were definite elements of instalove that you can find in most YA and NA stories, their relationship did not progress at a ridiculously fast pace (compared to most other stories). I really enjoyed Cam becoming Avery’s friend and support system before becoming her boyfriend, and time and time again he proved himself to be an amazing guy. And dear god, him with his tortoise was just about the best little addition to the story. Gave me a good laugh a few times. Cam, aside from being gorgeous and daydreamy, was able to encompass elements of being an alpha male while also being clearly very kind, intuitive and daring. Basically I want to marry him right now, please and thank you. I really appreciated how he handled Avery’s recovery process, as a few stories I read the same time as this one showcased that not all guys are as understanding and intuitive. Avery, on the other hand, was not as lovable as Cam, but that was okay with me as I generally feel that away about the main character. She could be a bit too wishy washy for my taste, wanting to have Cam around but then pushing him away when he was, and she wasn't a very fun character. All the humor and light heartedness came from just about every character other than her, but I did enjoy seeing her work through the issues of her past and really grow as a person towards the end. There was one aspect of this story I wasn’t too keen of, which was the stalking/harassment that Avery was experiencing. The way it played out was a little odd and anticlimactic. Even so, every other aspect of their story was enjoyable and well written. It brings you characters with lots of depth, a swoon worthy couple, just the right amount of suspense and drama without being overdone, and a great, genuine story of recovery. I cannot recommend this one enough! Review: A decent new adult romance with boatloads of chemistry and a swoonworthy BBF - 3-1/2 stars. I'm a huge fan of Jennifer L. Armentrout, but this was my first book by her in the new adult genre. Once again she creates memorable characters, particularly swoonworthy guys, but Avery was lacking that special something that made Katy from the Lux series and Alex from the Covenant series so easy to root for. Avery is a college freshman who moved halfway across the country to escape her past, including her family. She meets Cam in the most awkward way possible, but he's inexplicably smitten with her. Avery keeps to herself, clearly has a secret, and is haunted by her past, but because Cam is so swoony, she is understandably drawn to him. They begin an unlikely friendship that morphs into more before Avery's secrets drive a wedge between them. Plot Pretty much a straight up romance. Girl meets boy, insta-attraction, boy pursues girl, girl pushes boy away, boy finally wins her over, only for girl to push him away again until she changes and wins him back. There are some underlying themes that are a little different, but nothing groundbreaking. What J. Lynn does well, though, is create amazing chemistry between her characters, and that is definitely in play here between Avery and Cam. There were no real twists or surprises, but as a romance, it's very enjoyable. Characters Both the main characters are well-crafted with solid backstories that shape who they are. My problem was that Avery was too much of a victim for me to really be able to identify with her. I was hoping she'd grow on me through the story, but she never really did. Cam is definitely likeable, but he had some cliched moments, including the fact that he's a bad boy except when it comes to Avery. What Didn't Work for Me 1. Avery. I just couldn't identify with her. I realize her reaction to what happened to her is probably pretty authentic, but I would have liked to see a little more anger and Queen Mary (from Reign) than victimhood from her. 2. Editing. This really surprised me. The book was riddled with the wrong words, bad grammar ("between him and I" instead of "between him and me") and missing words. So many that it was distracting. What I Enjoyed About Wait for Me 1. The chemistry. This is a JLA hallmark and she does it really well here. The playful banter and the way she draws readers deep into the feelings of her characters is everything I love about her books. 2. Cam. He might be cookie-cutter JLA book boyfriend material, but why mess with perfection? 3. Ollie. He's adorable and I've already peeked to make sure he's getting his own story! 4. Romantic Valentines Gifts. I wasn't sure about Cam's V-day gift to Avery at first. It seemed awfully presumptuous, but it's grown on me and now seems absolutely perfect. 5. Tough subject matter. J. Lynn deals with two very difficult topics with compassion and heart. Bottom Line Wait for Me is a decent new adult romance with boatloads of chemistry and a swoonworthy BBF.

BOOK REVIEW - Wait for you (Wait for you #1) - J. Lynn Wait for you is a touching, heartfelt and powerful read that will steal your breath and render you utterly speechless. If you love college based romance dramas, this one is a true winner! * Running away was Avery Morgensten's motto. Feeling a desperate need to remain anonymous and surround herself with fresh faces, Avery believes she can finally put her past behind her, and move forward. Attending college in West Virginia couldn't have distanced her any further from her hometown in Texas. Brought up in a privileged household, Avery was popular, smart and never wanted for anything. However, her life took a tragic detour at fourteen when she attended a Halloween Party; one that irrevocably changed the course of her life, forever... Running late for her first lesson in Astronomy, she plows very hard into a wall - a six foot muscular wall with the bluest eyes and darkest unruly hair. Cameron Hamilton is the epiphany of college boy sex-god, with a body made for sin and a dimple fuelled smile that magically has every girl swooning at his feet. Surprised to find that his charms and mischievous wit doesn't hold any weight with the shy, standoffish freshman, it seems his charms are failing and yet fate has a habit of intervening when Cam and Avery seem to continuously cross paths. With the dawning realisation that they live in the same apartment block, it becomes impossible to deny the attraction they feel for each-other and when he introduces her to his one-true love, a tortoise called Raphael, it seems there is more to Cam than just the boy with the panty-dropping smile and playboy reputation. "You're nice to me because you think I'm pretty?" "And because you have brown eyes. I'm a sucker for big old brown eyes." He laughed. "I'm a shallow, shallow boy. Hey, it helps that you're pretty. It brings out the nice guy in me. Makes me want to share my cookies with you." From here on out we see a beautiful friendship develop but it's obvious Avery and Cameron feel a connection on a deeper, more intimate level. Running scared from consequences of past in-actions as abusive text messages and nuisance phone calls continue to invade her present, its clear Avery is still running. Keeping everyone, including her two new friends, Brit and Jacob, from finding out her darkest secret becomes a difficult challenge as she struggles to keep her past shame under lock and key. But Cameron isn't giving up on the girl across the hall, and when he witnesses an incoming abusive text message on her phone, he wants answers but not before Avery puts her trust in him. * Oh my goodness, I have a new book boyfriend to add to the list, ladies. Cameron `F- me eyes' Hamilton has rocketed straight into the top ten. I will NEVER eat another cookie without thinking of him. Seriously, he is pure literary sex on print. The dialogue in this book is MAGIC! Many scenes had me laughing out loud and trust me when I say every girl needs a Jacob in her life. That boy had me rolling in my reading chair. This is a slow-build story that gives the reader time to adjust and learn the characters and even though it's apparent from the offset that Avery has been through a terrifying ordeal; the full realisation of that event isn't divulged until 85% and yet it was formed and executed perfectly. I was relieved and more than ready for it, as the darker vibe simmered in the background throughout most of the book, throwing out a disturbing snippet now and then and I needed closure. J.Lynn definitely delivered on that! There are no cliffhangers here, making it a perfect standalone read. This is my first book by Jennifer. L. Armentrout (J.Lynn) and I will happily invest in more of her works as her writing is fluent, refreshing, with good flow and dialogue that is total genius. ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT! 5-Stars.
