Cooking With the Saints Review: This gets me excited to cook! - This book is so fun. My husband and I really enjoy cooking the dishes together and we look forward to each saint day. We put the saint days with an emoji of the food on our desertcart Alexa 15. A day or two before the saint day, we make an desertcart Fresh order of all the ingredients, so it arrives at our doorstep without having to go to the grocery store. Then, we just get cooking! We are novice cooks, but so far the recipes have been doable. The information about the saint and the dishes have also helped deepen my faith, as well as introduce my husband (taking RCIA next year) to more of Catholicism. Overall, we highly recommend this book. The aesthetic, design and layout of the book is beautiful - possibly the best out there. I do wish there were dishes for holy days of obligation, as well as plain recipes for Lent, but maybe this is an opportunity for the writers to make a Liturgical Living cookbook? :) We will continue adding more photos as we make more dishes! 7/24/2023 - Added more photos! Review: Saints and sustenance, an enjoyable, and unique guide to the Saints and tested recipes. - Simple to follow recipes, for both the skilled and beginner, with beautiful pictures throughout. The short biographies of the Saints are very interesting, while the recipes associated with them are delicious and well chosen. I had the privilege of participation in this particular apostolate at St Veronica in Chantilly, Virginia, and can say, as one who mastered burning water long ago, the novice can achieve great results. Every recipe in the book is tried and tested. The book is well made in hardback, with easily read print. It’s a great guide to wonderful eats for Feast Days and Holidays. My only criticism is considering where it will get its most use, it lacks a protective dust jacket.

Wonderful and beautiful cookbook!
I truly love this cookbook. For the most part, the recipes are easy to make. I love the fact that each month highlights a Saintly Meal that corresponds to one of the saints of each month, with an easy shopping list for all of the ingredients. I have enjoyed making the Saintly Meal for my family for 3 consecutive months now, and I can't wait to make all 12 meals! The cookbook also features beautiful, colorful photos of most of the recipes, the featured saints and facts and famous quotes of the saints! I LOVE this cookbook!

Great cookbook
Got this for my dad for Christmas. He absolutely loved it. Learning about the Saints, while learning about their culture & cooking a new recipe. Highly recommend.

Great cookbook!
Looked through reviews for several similar cookbooks, landed on this one, and I'm quite happy with it. I like that along with individual saint days, it also includes monthly meals with detailed shopping lists, interesting background reading, and great instructions. We made the January meal with my inlaws and it came out great and was very delicious. It was a multi-hour endeavor, though, so not for the faint of heart!

Funny and worthwhile read
I did not buy this book with the intention of getting historical information. Having said that, it is interesting to note that not all of the feast days listed in the text are currently accurate. However, this book is funny and very interesting and full of unique recipes, information, and inspiration. My husband got a big kick out of it as his Father’s Day gift. We’ve tried several of the recipes and I’ve also ordered some unique wines that were mentioned. I would recommend this book as a nice gift.

A beautiful book
Years ago, we were able to attend some of the actual classes that led to this book. Cooking with the Saints was a lovely program with good recipes and most importantly wonderful stories about Catholic saints. This book is beautiful to look at, with biographical information about a saint before a recipe from his or her country. Learning about St. Philomena helped my daughter to discern her Confirmation saint. Uniting cooking and Catholicism turns out to be a great way to instill faith in kids. My daughter was very excited to receive this book as a gift.

Excellent book, needs better packaging.
Such a great book!!! Seriously so we’ll done. The images are striking, the writings about each Saint are captivating, and the recipes are great! I love that they give the shopping list. Only complaint is that it was a gift and the packaging was horrible. The book banged around and the corners were crunched and the cover was scratched. Disappointing.

I bought a few Catholic cookbooks. I have to say that this one is the best as someone who's favorite saint is East Asian and known East Asian cooking the recipes look authentic. Plus each receipt comes with a prayer. I once bought a book that is incorrect as to who is paitin saint of Japan.

If I'm entertaining I pick a close Saint's feast day - it really is fun and appreciated by all.
