Sturdy rod with ultra-precise leveling
This is a high quality aluminum leveling rod. The three telescoping pieces fit snugly but not too tightly, with plastic button latches to keep the rod extended. It came with an extra button latch, I guess in case one breaks. One side has the E scale, 1 centimeter marks, that is easy to read from a distance, while the other is marked off in millimeters like a measuring tape. You can use this rod as a measuring stick if you want. It has a bubble level that you can attach or not, 1 meter from the bottom. This level is extremely precise; My guess is that it is better than half a degree. It even has calibration screws to compensate for any manufacturing inaccuracy. For just measuring elevations, you don't need anywhere close to this amount of precision, but for other uses, this perfectly vertical rod is quite valuable. On one of the two rods I bought, the bubble level was defective and about 10 degrees off. It was easy enough to fix, but I'm sure I could have got a replacement if I didn't want to fix it. The supplied carrying bag is tough and will prevent damage to the painted markings, and has a carrying strap.

at max distance easy to read
out of the box, i surveyed a known section of land to compare with other surveys done. the difference in elevation on the roadway was consistent with vehicle use while the other areas were within tolerance. what i was most happy with was at the max distance of my instrument, i could clearly read these numbers without any guessing. i have a rod that is excellent, but sometimes without a lot of head scratching, i'm not sure where on the rod i'm viewing the cross hair.

Grade Rod!
A quality product at a great price, delivered quickly. What's not to like about that? I scored a Dewalt transit and tripod at a garage sale, but no grade rod. This one perfectly completes the set. It's well made, easy to read and it even came with a level!
