Very nice "real" instrument.
I bought this for our six year old, who had shown an interest in learning to play an instrument. I have sung and played several instruments for many years, and while I didn't want to spend a lot (yet) I wanted something that was "realistic" and NOT interested in an electronic one that played songs for you. After about three weeks of ownership, I'm very satisfied with it. She has learned to play several songs, and finds it easy to play. The sound quality is decent, and it is not annoying to my ears, as some instruments/toys are. You play by pressing just one finger to get one note...then blow. Unlike a child's recorder that requires a certain amount of air to make the right sound, you can blow softly or rather hard, and get a similar sound. One limitation is that you cannot play "sharps" or "flats" -- just the notes in the key of C. Now, that can be pretty big, but ... I think that - for now - the trade off is reasonable. We will see if she is truly interested in playing an instrument, then graduate to something better in a year or more. I have been able to write out the words for several songs, and then write the number to show her which finger she presses for each word. A little time consuming, but worth it when i see the expression on her face after she plays "Silent Night" or "Mary had a Little Lamb." It would be nice if there were links to web sites with songs in the key of C. As some reviews have pointed out, it IS fully plastic, so I don't know how long it will last, and with a 2- and 3- year old in the house, it's days may not be long...have to prepare for that too. If one of the "springs" (also plastic) were to break, I don't know what the effect would be, and what, if anything could be done to fix it...maybe use super glue to put in a real spring?? So in spite of the two "negative items" I've noted -- key of C and being plastic -- I still give it a five-star rating. And the price is not bad either.

Cheap
Cute and fun, until it broke. The buttons are cheap and snap off quickly if you’re not careful. And we all know little kids aren’t often careful!

Perfect toy "real" instrument!
I love that it is so realistic and the sound is quite decent ( I dont need ear plugs!). I got it for my 5 year old and its easy for him (and me) to actually play it. The only downside is that it's not metal so you'd need to treat it gently like a real instrument, so you don't break any of the keys/springs. And of course, no sharps or flats, so good to get familiar with just C Major and the basic keys. But overall definitely worth it as a first saxophone for a little one!:)

Happy with product overall!
This is great for a toddler. It plays music well, blowing through the mouth piece, and each button plays a different note. It's what we wanted for the age of our child - 3.5 yrs old. It is thin plastic and plastic buttons with springs, so we do put it up when we're not using it so that no kid accidentally steps on it or miss handles it. We only get it out when an adult can supervise. In hopes that we can keep it nice for longer. But I actually accidentally dropped it once and all the buttons fell off, however, they easily popped back into place and there was no damage done. So it could be sturdier than it seems.

TERRIBLE!!!!
I thought I did my homework, I read the reviews and thought I was getting a toy sax for my 4 year old. I thought this product would be somewhat durable. I wasn't expecting real metal or anything like that. It came in the mail today and I am TERRIBLY disappointed. It is made out of the CHEAPEST plastic you can get. I am sure this is going to break with in a day of my son getting it. The plastic reminds me of the same material as those plastic easter eggs you can get. Anyway, this is not worth even a dollar in my book. I would love to send it back, but this it seems is the only toy sax out there, and my son has his heart set on getting one. I have never written a review for a product on Amazon before, but this is the biggest piece of cr*p, I felt that I needed to.

My 5 year old loves this saxophone
My husband is a musician so we have many instruments in the percussion, drum, and DJ line. But no wind instruments. My son went over a friend's house and he had this saxophone. My son was so obsessed the friend's mom let us borrow it since he couldn't put it down. We ordered on that night and he was so happy when it came a few days later. He has learned songs and really tries to play it correctly. It is a good choice for a first learning saxophone. Real ones are expensive and heavy. For little ones who have no idea whether or not they will like an instrument, this is perfect. The only problem is that the keys have been coming off, BUT they are easy to put back on. We do, however, store it high and out of reach of his 3 year old brother.

Broke
The toy is less sturdy than it looks n I was disappointed that it broke the very next day after it arrived. The reason I couldn't return it is becoz my son threw the other half of the saxophone in the garbage which I didn't get to discover for another day . So all in all while this was a great toy while it lasted- but I would say it doesn't do justice to my 25 bucks
