I increased my rating to five stars from one cuz of great customer service. After I emailed the manufacturer explaining my problem, they got back to me the next day. After answering a few questions and sending a photo of the serial number, they sent a whole new unit to me and a prepaid label to return the old one. The new one works as it's supposed to, so I upped my rating to five stars. The LX-770 is a really nice torch and soldering iron for a great price. It heats up quickly and burns for a long time on a charge. The kit includes a number of useful soldering and other tips too. One thing you should know that isn't on this Amazon page: the company says only 3X-refined and higher butane should be used, not just "premium" or "high quality" gas. (You can find up to 14X butane out there; I never knew there were different kinds.) But the impurities in regular butane will cause it to not work well and will damage the torch, the company warns, so buy the 3X or higher stuff. It's a bit more expensive, but not much. My original review: This torch had so many good reviews, I really expected to love it. And I did, for the first two days. I planned to use it mostly as a soldering iron, and for two small projects I tried it on, it was great. But then today I was using it to solder some resistors and wires to LEDs. And when I was using it, or when I set it down, it just would stay lit for a short time, and then go out. I could still hear the gas flowing, but there was no flame and it got cold. It would relight, but then the same thing. This happened over and over again, so it was not a fluke. I tried pushing the lock button as far as possible. But the only way I could use it was to keep and hold the safety lever down with my thumb. Which I am not going to do long term. (I am using high-quality 5X butane.) My only choice is to return it. Although I like the design, I am reluctant to buy another Lexivon because of this experience and will probably try another brand. So disappointing!

I have had two other butane soldering irons Weller's Pyropen jr. worked great the Pyropen not so much. This blows them away as far as value and performance. Lights the first time, heats fast and seems built well. The kit has all the tips you could use. Good case and items are securely held in place. A couple of minor items - no gage for fill level, had to cut foam to put iron back in place without removing tip. Still a five in my book at a cost that is great.

Move over Snap-on tools, Lexivon has it right! The price of this kit gives me the freedom to buy more of their quality tools without waiting months to purchase another tool guilt free. Finally, I can buy the tools I need one after the other without breaking the bank. The soldering kit is in a well-built case that's perfectly shadow boxed for the torch and accessories. The instructions are clear and straightforward - no confusion, just smiles! They even offer an extended 2-year warranty with registration, which was super easy to do. After I registered my soldering kit, I checked out their website briefly. I was really impressed by how user-friendly it was. Whether you're looking through their products or trying to find your product's user manual, everything's right there and easy to find. I could tell right away after opening my shipping box that this company values their customers and wants to give them the best experience possible. Owning a business myself, I know that there is a lot of time and effort that goes into creating a website that's user friendly and I can only imagine the same goes with developing a product that hits all the marks your customers are hoping for. Lexivon nailed it! I honestly can't express how impressed I am by this product, especially considering the price I paid for it. I really hope they continue to create affordable quality products so I can keep filling my toolbox with them! Would have attached a photo but for some reason it wouldn't work. I have a mobile auto repair business so this is very handy when needed. It has a pretty fast heat up time, it's pretty light easy handling and is especially nice not having a power cord. One thing though is the butane fill port needs a special adapter to work with most butane fill bottles. I am still looking for an adapter that will fill without letting gas escape. I get enough in to make the tool work but it's still a bit of a pain. The case with all the different tips is really nice also.

Love it easy to use works well

I purchased the LX-770 soldering iron kit back in Sept of last year. I'm a mobile electronics installer/technician. I used the torch for heating windshield glass and to solder wire joints multiple times a day, 5-6 days a week. I really used this thing. I only used higher refined butane for refilling, since that really is the industry standard for any butane powered products now. I never had any issues out of the product, in fact I would go on and on about it with coworkers. A couple of weeks ago, I refilled the torch, and for the first time, the ignitor didn't ignite the fuel on the first try. I was surprised to say the least. Days later it would not ignite at all. So I reached out to the customer service dept at Lexivon through the Amazon app, since I purchased it on here. The employee wasted no time in getting my issue resolved, she asked questions relevant to the issue, and for the obvious information regarding the serial number etc. In a few days time, I received a brand new kit. Good luck getting service like this with any competitor. I bet you won't. This company is so confident in their product they give you, yes, give you an extended warranty to 2 years, once you register the product. I was willing to just shell out the money and purchase another kit outright, based on it's performance in the field. No question this is the one, field tested and used to the max and I won't hesitate to purchase one again.

Use it as my field unit, incase tools need repairs on site and so far it has met my needs. I have a rechargable soldering iron but with batteries sitting in the truck for unknown amounts of time between uses. as well as cold weather its harder to rely on the battery compared to always knowing this is filled with a spare tank near by to refill as soon as it runs out. good product , durable, and the nice molded case in comes in is convenient.

I was assisting my team with a large intercom deployment on a school campus, and we needed to re-use and rewire a bunch of speakers from the site's prior installation. For the first time in 15+ years, I needed to do soldering on-site in rooms where setting up a desk soldering station would not be timely. This butane soldering iron worked well and got the job done.
