Review: Appeals to Interactive Boys - My parents often bought small devotionals to help me with character development, so I found these types of books VERY helpful and encouraging. While the style was great for that time, there are a different set of challenges this generation brings- ESPECIALLY for boys. The authors did a great job of sticking to Christian foundations without being too stuffy or Orthodox. It appeals to anyone who wants to help their son with character development, regardless of faith. Here are some of the highlights; 1. COMPACT AND QUICK: This book is small, but packs a powerful group of messages that can be read in less than 2 minutes a day. 2. CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT: It is a great way to introduce "mindful meditations" to boys who are transitioning to young adulthood without being too "politically correct and gender neutral". 3. MOMMY HELP: From a mother's perspective, it just can't be denied that boys develop, think, and learn differently than girls! I can struggle with sharing a concept for over a week, and then my husband can explain it in 2 minutes- then BOOM. They get it. 4. UNIVERSAL USEFULNESS: For those who are not of the Christian faith, it has universal principles that is very useful as a tool for mindful meditation. 5. PARENT CO-TEACHER: For moms with boys who need a way to translate the Bible into 'boyspeak', consider this your interpretation guide. For dads with boys, consider this your close buddy who will reinforce all the things you have been teaching about Christian manhood. Written in a style that appeals to interactive boys, it breaks down the Holy Scriptures into bite sized nuggets. Furthermore, it gives practical application to issues that boys commonly deal with in the tween to teen years. While this is not meant to be a substitute for daily A great resource for any parent who wants to give their child support as they grow in their own faith. * I have two sons, 7 and 9 who currently read on an 8th grade level. However, this is written so that a child who can read on a 2nd grade level will be able to comprehend and enjoy with parental engagement! Review: Relevant - My husband and I read this every night to our preteen boys, age 10 and 12. It would serve well for them to read on their own, but we chose to do it with them bc it is a good way for us to wind down for the night, give us a few minutes of time together from our busy days while teaching them good all-around character building lessons. This seems to resonate well with both of them. It is short enough to hold their attention and not too bogged down with concepts or words that are beyond their comprehension. We don't know the long term affects that this will have on them, but it's a great way to bring in conversations for now and hopefully later in life. We know this has been speaking to them in a relevant way bc they have accused us many times of looking through the book to pick out the one that just so happened to apply for that day. 😆 (We just keep a book marker and go in order.) It just so happens that it has often been something that they have dealt with or struggled with that very day. We just tell them that often times God will speak to us about certain things when we need it the most. Highly recommend this for young boys exactly in the age it's intended for.

Perfect for boys
Cute little devotional. My 12 year olds takes a couple minutes to read it everyday.

Perfect for Teen s
I bought this for my grand nephew and a friend's son. They are both in their young teens and need all the encouragement and scriptural guidance they can get. The lessons are short easy to read and easy to understand all with great meaning and I listen to learn. I plan to order more to have on hand to hand out to young boys at our church, that I meet and think could use the encouragement and to the rest of the young men that are becoming teens in our family. I think every teen can you spiritual encouragement in today's world.

Nice little book
Bought this for my son for Christmas (he is 10, going on 11). He needed a little more in depth devotional for bedtime as he's nearing the pre-teen years. Overall I think it's a nice little devotional book. Some of the topics/depth of material is maybe more suited for teens than "boys" per se, but he seems to like it. I like the fact that it opens up with scripture and ends with a prayer.

Bought as a gift
My grandson was happy to have the quick read devotions. He has wanted something like this for a long time, and I was happy to have found something that he can fit in to his chaotic teenage activities

It's a good book for my 11 year old
Besides that the print color (in olive green) is a little light, I find the content pretty useful. I have started doing the devotion with my son for about a week now and we both seem to enjoy the time going over the material nightly. It takes about 10 min. We start off by flipping to the page that we read last night and read the one sentence summary he wrote down. Then he would randomly flip to a new page. I would start off reading the scripture twice and explain in general what it means. Then he reads out loud the devotion and tells me in his words how it applies to his daily life. I think the devotion is well written to reflect current life situations so he can relate. I would go on to elaborate more about it and what it means for him and for me. Then I would ask him to write down one sentence summarizing the passage on that page. We would close by reading out the prayer and each of us would pray more. I would like to establish this routine for good.
