The Bluebook: A Uniform System of Citation

Great for school

Love the binding on the side to make it easier to read/access pages. Everything in this book was laid out well and I was able to use it for several semesters of school. It matched up with the professors version at the time and I had no issues.

Absolutely saved my a** in a class (Legal Research) where the book was noted in a syllabus but not listed in the class registration as "required materials". Realized the need after starting an assignment 4 weeks into the semester. The instructor was no help asking if I had noted her announcement in the 3rd week. Thank you very much for meeting your written commitments especially the time of delivery. Teh price was very reasonable considering the pricing from suppliers such as Pearson or Magraw-Hill. (Prices through suppliers were nearly double and that included nearly triple on the shipping) Feel free to edit as needed for vendor relationships! LOL

It's not that I really hate this book, I more hate the organizations that produces this book. First, I'm assuming this has not been done, but the editors of all the "prestigious" law reviews who write and edit this book need to get their act together and hire a professional company to rework the appendix and table of contents to be more helpful! The information is surely in the book, but it's unnecessarily overly difficult to find the information you're looking for. The Blue Book(tm) indeed has a monopoly on the legal citation market, which is why you MUST purchase it (unless you'd prefer to look like a moron when you submit your documents to the court only to have them sent back because nothing was cited properly...you don't want to be known as "that attorney"). Ok, I'm amending my complaint/review. The book is not too bad once you spend around 100 hours with it. After that, you'll get the hang of it and the book is not that bad. Although, I still stand behind my last review recommending that the editors provide a better table of contents and index.

What can I say about the Bluebook...I hate it because it means I’m working my butt off if I’m using it. It’s a necessary evil, and there’s no competition for legal writing! It arrived new, shrink wrapped, and in great condition.

I wanted to provide a graduating undergraduate mentee with practical resources for law school as a graduation gift. I ordered this and Barron's Law Dictionary: Mass Market Edition. While she hasn't yet used either book, as a law professor, I am confident she will get good use out of both. This is a law school staple. You cannot lose in buying it for a new law student.

Excellent tool for any Criminal Justice or Law School. It becomes the go to for Citations of all sorts, whether federal, state or international it is all there. Another great purchase. Now that I have it, I definitely would not want to be without it.
