Superbly nice kit. I needed to do a cosplay project and had to make some wooden pieces for it, some small wood dangling bits, with little carved and burnt areas. My costume also had leather, which I needed to apply some branding to, And this wood burning kit fit the bill swimmingly. Other reviewer saying it does not have instructions is not correct, I received instructions in my email the same day it arrived. Pros: I was able to get my cos-play done in time for the convention! And It looked awesome. The fact that I could lower the temp to work on leather too was wonderful, and that's why I chose this kit, along with the nice case. Cons: Some of the tips were out of place when I got it, but I just figured that was from shipping Overall will highly recommend this kit to everyone. *** 6 out of 5 Stars! ***

Only bad thing is tips keep coming loose

Look: everyone nowadays wants you to review their product. And sometimes I’m skeptical, but... So here it is. I looked at a lot before I purchased. Bought based on reviews and that damn case. Because it looked nice. The case is nice but it seems some of the tips were just kind of shoved in there. The stand in stamped sheetmetal and not very sturdy. You have to bend it to use it so if you pack it up in the case it won’t withstand a lot of bending. The temp control knob seems of questionable quality, and even “self adjusted” while I was using it. The grip is acceptable and the heat transfer from the device is bearable but abundant. The tip selection is probably the best thing about the set... except ONE BROKE OFF IN THE WAND. Here’s the deal, I haven’t been burning very long but I read and research before I start anything. I removed a hot tip with pliers (as acceptable in the world of woodburning) and replaced it with a different cold tip (also acceptable). I placed the hot tip in water (acceptable and encouraged). So no harm, right. Wrong. When I went to remove the second tip to change it out, the threads broke off in the wand. Boom. Useless. Saving grace is a free replacement and free return shipping. Rating is based on actual use and not because I’m mad or frustrated. The item works well and has a lot of good qualities. But I don’t think the materials are good enough for even the basic woodburning techniques. Hobby store burners cost twice as much with fewer tips, so this would be a good entry level kit for an artsy kid.

I have bought a lot of stuff in my day but this one is a doozy. The kit was on sale and I bought it about six months ago, but didn't try to use it until today. Wish I had right away. A company selling a product like this is committing borderline consumer fraud. Here's why: There are multiple attachments which seems cool, one set is silver colored the other is brass colored. The brass colored attachments had the same diameter on the thread but would not fit into the burner. Taking a closer look, I noticed the threads were different which isn't uncommon and something that is usually the reason you can't thread a nut to a bolt for example. I then tried some of the silver colored attachments and they did thread in but after a short use, came loose. In short, this product is not functional and in my view, the company had to know it didn't work so they put it on sale and dumped it on the market. Shame, shame shame! I have to say as much as there are many things I don't like about Amazon, the opportunity to do these reviews gives us, the consumer, the power to stop companies from selling inferior or non-functional products. If you buy something have the same type of experience, please do a review, it's a powerful tool that helps others.

i just received this- liked it immediately! it comes with a nice case and lots of tips- plus it has a dial for adjusting the heat setting, which gives you the ability to achieve shading effects. the hotter you make it the darker the burn, so you can get some great values, not just one! thankfully it is pretty self-explanatory (no assembly instructions included), but with experimentation and by googling some techniques on the actual use of it, i have no doubt, this will make me look like a pro in no time.
