Great Neck Saw PSO40 Drive Socket Set, 1/4-Inch and 3/8-Inch Drive, 40-Piece

For the eight and change in 2011, this set has worked out very well. The sockets don't lock into the case so if the set falls, it's going to take a while to put everything back. The case has held up well and the cover is still hinged and hasn't broken off. I got this set for smallish work, not automotive engine work, and none of the sockets have broken in 11 years.

Helps in a jam

The case stinks. I had to add foam padding inside to keep the sockets from falling out of their appointed niches...and I needed to add straps to hold it closed. Stinks. The wrench and sockets are low grade, poorly finished items...functional but very cheap looking. Well, it was a very cheap kit. On the plus side, the kit is small and fits into my Go tool bag...and the kit has survived a couple of uses so far. Meh.

i purchased this exact set here on Amazon in 2006 for a little less than $5.. The socket wrench died using it yesterday....So i guess it lasted over 10 years of infrequent but somewhat abusive use, which is not bad for what it is and what I paid.I would not give 4 four stars, but to be fair while it is not very high quality it really did last. I do a lot of DIY . I have spent thousands on tools over the years. This little set was a great little set, handy dandy for small jobs. I will end up spending more just the replace the socket...

Everyone needs a Drive socket set. This is the best selling on Amazon. It came in a nice heavy case. It snaps shut, and I don't expect it to open up in the tool bag. The current, 11/5/2017, 3/5 rating review couldn't be more accurate. These tools are enough to do the job, but the socket holder/storage case it comes with is just low quality. Most of the sockets do not fit "just right" they have a little extra wiggle room - relative to the wrench that they are supposed to attach onto. Which is quite amazing seeing as sockets are literally designed to fit certain bolts, so you'd think it would be easy to design the connection point between the wrench and socket. Well, in this case, you'd be wrong.However, for a small set for someone that only deals with sockets minimally, this is a very good deal. If you want something high quality that you'll use often, go elsewhere or you'll just be wasting time trying to make everything work right.

When I received this product, I had no problems. I bought to use in the future to change my different mounts (Engine, Torque, and Transmission). Now I will admit, they were cheap for a reason, I bought them because they were cheap, and I need some tools to do some quick fixes.The only issue I have with this set, it is the fact that there is no "Locking Notch" in each piece, but I use other adapters that kinda make that moot, but I the adapters included are ok, and the ones I use make this kit awesome.Overall, 4 stars.

when i got it in the mail, the actual plastic box was all beat up and crappy. luckily though, i was only buying this for a couple of pieces from a nearly identical set (same box and everything, just a better box) that had broken (the screwdriver and the ratchet both). so it suited my purposes, i bought it 2 years ago almost and the pieces are all still working fine, just don't spin the ratchet around excessively, as entertaining as it may be, it'll wear out the mechanism, and its gonna separate from the attached socket, sending the damn thing flying, and one of those days it's gonna fall apart upon landing and you'll end up buying this whole set just for the ratchet, and be disappointed by the crappy packaging, but you figure you'll be ok since you have another box. and that's my life story.

For $9 it’s amazing. Except a few things. I just needed the sockets I did not need he Rachet or the extension. The finish on these is not good it’s very roughy not shiny but dull. The sockets are not very good in the case and move around but that’s expected for a $9 tool set. The fit on these is amazing I’ve been using all the sockets on my bolts and it’s doing well. This kit is pretty awful. All of the sockets, the wrench, and the extension/adapters are tarnished/oxidizing. They fit loosely on nuts and bolts alike (of the correct size - not an issue using metric on imperial etc) and the wrench is really bad; the ratcheting mechanism is loose with lots of play, and the selector for left/right easily slips out of place during use. For the price, it would be OK if it wasn't in poor condition on arrival.

The sockets don't stay in their places very well when you carry to the next job. The driver broke first time using it. Cheap set. Otherwise the sockets seem to hold up on tough jobs and the ratchet is good.I would not recommend. Pay a bit more money and get a quality brand. They will last a lifetime.
