Hopkins 48955 Towed Vehicle Diodes Kit

I used these to install flat towing light harness on my Jeep CJ. Works well if you follow the directions. I recommend a sealed junction box to house the diodes in the cabin. This item as paired with a Reese flat towing light harness.

Easy to install and work to protect vehicle wiring when used on a towed vehicle. I used these converting my 2023 Bronco for being towed behind my RV.

I was impressed how well that worked. On my Chevy van only two headlights were on in the bright position and also in the dim position. With this I was able to have all four lights on in front and twice the amount of visibility. I was very impressed with that.

Installed these in my TOAD vehicle several weeks ago. It's a 1999 Chevy Metro. Towed twice with it, and works fine. My toad has separate turn signals. So I used these to wire the toad turn signals to be used as break lights as well, thus not using the factory orange turns signals on the toad while towing. It worked great. No back feeding power into the toad electrical system. To verify proper installation, I made a quick google search.

These were exactly what I was looking for. I was somewhat converse I couldn’t find a continuous current rating on the description, and they looked like cheap plastic in the photo. THIS WAS NOT THE CASE. These are pretty heavy duty, encamping a rubber feeling coating. These were even better than I’d hoped. I did not use them for towed vehicle lights as intended. I used them in line with some control relays to keep my low beams on when turning on the high beams. (ATV lights, not the fools on the highway). Anyway, I updated old halogen lights to new LED pods and put a light bar in as a hi-beam, but wanted to maintain the spotlight pods as well. Added bonus, I have 6 ATV’s to do and they come 4 to a pack!

These diode packs were used to install a flat tow system on a car. They are needed to isolate the car back tail, brake and turn signal lights from the tow vehicle (motor home in this case). The double connector end has one going the tail light power from the car and the 2nd connector on the double end would go to the tow vehicle tail light. Then the single connector end would be connected to the car tail lights and would turn on depending if powered by either the car switch or tow vehicle and prevent power feeding back to the car circuit when the tow vehicle is connected to the car. Hopefully this make sense. We needed 4 to complete the job. 1 for each tail light ( left and right) and one for each blinker/brake light.

I got these to replace the ones that were installed by the U-Haul Trailer dealer on my F-150 so it could be flat towed by my motorhome. The ones they installed, they kept slipping off and unplugging my left tail light, so I bought these and I hooked them up myself, but still, they keep slipping off and unplugging my tail light. In addition, my aftermarket light bar which goes under my tailgate will NOT work with these connected. As soon as the blinker is turned on, the truck sees a short in the blinker system and shuts off. This doesn't happen if I bypass the diodes. Not just these, but any diodes.. I'm not sure why, the makers of the light bar told me to go to an aftermarket body shop... but I see the problem in the OBD codes and it's directly related to the diodes, but that shouldn't be happening.

Used this kit to add emergency flashers to a 65 Chevy Pickup that didn't come originally with them. Nice item.
