This didn't come with any instructions at all so you need to watch the video in Amazon to realize the cutter is NOT a cutter but more like a little hammer. Lifting up on the ball while holding the lower part against the shell and snapping it back cracks and breaks the eggshell exactly as they show. I usually do 2-3 snaps and it's fine. The cups are very light weight and have held up to ~8 months use so far. One word of caution: The cups are very thin and easy to cut yourself during handwashing - I learned the hard way to watch out for this.

The egg cracker is, in one word, fantastic! My husband struggled for years to open his soft boiled eggs without making a mess: cut the top of the egg with a knine (it usually shatters the whole thing), tap the top with a spoon (and can't get the shards off) - but no more, thanks to the egg cracker! Just as shown in the video pull up the ball, and presto! the egg is "decapitated". A terrific device, and, combined with the timelessly elegant egg cups and the little spoons (that also work so well), an incredible bargain. We highly recommend this set!

After struggling for years with a knife and spill half the egg out I decided to search for a cracker designed for soft eggs. The one I bought worked beautifully at my first trial. The cut was easy to make and the soft egg remained intact with no spillage. The set comes complete with 4 egg stands, 4 spoons, and the cracker at a price that is very reasonable. I highly recommend the set if you like soft boiled eggs for breakfast.

The egg cups look great and the cutter seemed to be really cool. They are very pretty. But then you actually use them..... The metal cups are so thin, when you place a freshly boiled egg into them they heat up to the temperature of the egg immediately. You can no longer handle the egg cups without burning the bejesus out of your fingers. You would think this would be remedied by using the cool looking egg opener (Topper Tool) except it is useless. It sits atop the egg and defies any attempt to open the egg - it's sole purpose for existence. You fiddle with it, you turn it, you apply pressure (awkwardly because touching the cup with a hot egg means burning the before mentioned bejesus out of your fingers.) The "topper tool" just sits on the egg like an ugly hat on a rich lady at the Kentucky Derby. So you reach for the directions and they state: "Carefully nudge when pulling up and the egg shell will remove with the topper, or just raise with a nudge from the egg spoon." There is no instruction on how to get the sharp metal edges of the "topper" to CUT OR OTHERWISE ENGAGE THE SHELL. After destroying four soft boiled eggs I put the whole mess back into its box and sent it back. Spare yourself the time, frustration and burnt fingers and give this a HARD PASS!

I ordered this for a gift for my husband that has fond memories of his English grandma making soft boiled eggs for him all the time. It was easy to use and the little cups/spoons are cute. He is now sharing the tradition with our grandkids.

This is the golden product right here,i have been making dipping eggs for years for my kids and doing it all wrong cutting the tops off. this is a breeze to use its cuts the tops of the egg PERFECTELY i was amazed and if using the right way you can tilt the egg topper to the side and it pulls just the shell off the egg ever so nicely.. its super easy to clean GREAT value for your money and the tiny spoons are perfect for digging out the inside of the egg
