A very drinkable coffee
Just slightly more expensive than budget supermarket products, but much cheaper than most others, I find this a very drinkable coffee indeed. I've only been using decaffeinated coffee for about two years, after a combination of first working in an office with a superb coffee machine, then remote working during lockdown, and finally using coffee as a food replacement (don't!) while dieting led to my coffee consumption increasing. Needing to reduce my caffeine intake, I found that many of the decaffeinated products were a bit disappointing. That included some very expensive niche products. With experimentation, I've now settled on a small number of favourites that I find are close enough to decent quality caffeinated ground coffee...and this certainly joins them. It's good value, and recommended.

Very drinkable decaf espresso
We buy this on Subscribe and Save to try and stop our coffee habit completely trashing our sleep patterns. Flavour-wise - I guess it's not reasonable to compare it to "proper" caffeinated espresso. It's definitely not got the richness you get in a good real cup, it feels a little thinner, and there is a very slight bitterness in the flavour (although not as bad as, say, anything from Starbucks). Comparing it to a Lavazza decaf, I'd say it's not quite as good and the flavour isn't as well rounded. That said, it's certainly not at all bad, and is honestly quite a lot better than I had expected. It makes a perfectly drinkable coffee (we have a Sage Bambino espresso machine), crema is OK, and since we're not expecting award-winning espresso when we go for a decaf, it definitely works for us.

Yummy coffee
Really good taste to it, coffee is very fresh and yummy! Nice and strong too! Was amazed at how much was in the packet, whoever packaged it really made sure that there was absolutely no room for any air at all! Was packed so tightly it came out like a brick! Really well packaged and really nice coffee!

Bit thin and bitter.
Quite good but unfortunately too expensive compared to other brands for quality that's only adequate. We're coffee snobs but can't drink caffeine much now, which is a pain. It's very tricky to find a decaf that still has a full flavour, as most end up too thin and bitter. This coffee is OK, but it's not brilliant. I think if you have it with milk and sugar it's probably pretty drinkable, but there aren't a lot of oils in it, so it starts tasting a bit stale quite quickly. For the next packet we partly addressed that by putting most of the bag in the freezer and then topping up the caddy from that. That certainly helped. It's not as good as Lavazza, but then it is a chunk cheaper. It's also not as good as Lidl's own brand, which IS cheaper. It's adequate if you haven't got a Lidl nearby and if you keep most of it in the freezer to maintain the oils and flavour as much as possible.

Informative review alert!
No waffle, just facts! Great for the money Not a huge amount of deep flavour but a decent crowd pleaser Decaf is difficult to get that feels like a caffeinated coffee, not a bad attempt but better suited to a cafetiere/aeropress/filter machine If you want it for an espresso machine it'll likely pour too fast and not much crema - For espresso try the lavazza Dek professional espresso - gets close to a coffee that acts/smells and has flavour of a traditional espresso I'm an independent barista, and make coffee on commercial machines and a simple home espresso machine Hope this helps :)
