. Review: My favorite Muddy Waters - I bought this cd cause you can never have enough Muddy Waters in your blues collection and I read the liner notes written by one of the guys in Muddys almost last band read it tells the story about this being Muddy Waters last album and he wanted it to be good. And it’s sad cause his health was declining rapidly and in 1982 he died not very old like all the blues cats. The music is great all the way through Johnny Winter produced it and played guitar and you know how good he was, finally my favorite song Champagne and Reefer is on there if you like Muddy Waters this is a must have to your collection. Review: Solid blues - It's easy to go on about the music, that's what you expect. What I immediately was drawn to was the gatefold artwork. Simplicity, no-frills, just like Muddy. There are two great black and white portraits front and back. Inside you have a wonderful family photo, with the album credits. This is a high-quality recording with such a pure sound that it will tolerate high volume without distortion. Muddy always referred to Johnny Winter as his "boy". This recording is the perfect collaboration of these two musicians. Johnny plays lead on every cut. Even the vinyl is a beautiful honey color; pure sweetness.

Excellent sounding last Muddy Waters recordings
This Epic Legacy edition of this album is superb. The sound quality is EXCELLENT especially when compared to original 1980's Blue Sky cd's which are awful. Muddy never sounded better.

Must have Muddy Waters
Last studio recording of Muddy produced by Johnny Winters who also plays lead and slide guitar. Very well recorded and clean vintage Chicago Blues sound. A natural extension of the album made before this one titled " Hard Again".

An excellent effort in his latter years
While the title of the album would suggest it could have been a "best of" or even an encore effort, "King Bee" proved Muddy Waters was still an excellent musician with something left to say - check out "Champagne & Reefer," for example. The title cut, of course, is a cover of a Slim Harpo song that had even been covered by The Rolling Stones in the mid '60s (their self-titled 1964 first U.S. release). Muddy gives it a classic Muddy Waters interpretation that, in my opinion, is at least on par with the original. An excellent album for those looking to explore a master Chicago blues innovator.
