Prentice Hall Science Explorer: Physical Science Laboratory Manual

I purchased this paperback workbook to use in our homeschool studies. The workbook contains a variety of exercises--fill in the blank, true/false, unscramble the vocabulary word, circle the correct answer ---to check comprehension. The workbook creates a good study guide for tests and quizzes. A number of graphs are included to try to teach sequential thought, identify cause and effect, and teach outlining. I don't think this workbook is very effective in elucidating higher thinking. It is, however, a great workbook for demonstrating that the material has been read and that basic concepts are in place. I have been able to hand it off to my 6th grader and he is able to work through the material on his own without help. This book would be a nightmare for my dysgraphic child with visual processing issues. It's all handwriting and there's bleedthrough of lines on the opposite side of the very thin page.

This is the workbook that goes along with the textbook. It is a perfect match to the text. Easy to understand and transition between chapters. Chapters aren't very long and are easy to understand with the vocabulary words in bold and highlighted. Includes study guides, reviews and assessments at the end of each chapter.I grew up using Prentice Hall textbooks so I had no doubt that this one would be good. I do recommend!!I rented this book! I will return it in May when we are done with the semester. LOVE the rent option.

Picked up as reference material for youngest son who is struggling in Physical Science. From the beginning helped him understand basic concepts and get a grasp of the material with confidence to move forward and comprehend more advanced materials. Requires purchase of hardback book, this is only a workbook.

Purchased this book as a supplement to the related Life Science textbook for a homeschooled middle school student. The workbook is adequate, well organized, and correlates with the textbook. Unfortunately, there is not an answer key unless you purchase the $90+ "All-in-One Teaching Resources". Still debating if I will return the item.

I work for a smaller school so we have older books. This had all the worksheets! Just beware there is not an answer key, but it isn't a big deal for me to make my own.

The book is good, lots of foundational information in the physical sciences that lay a great base for the next level up. Although, I have to say at least a couple of chapters are dated, and while I am not a scientist, there were a few things I did not agree with. We plan to review it again this summer.
